Josh has come out in little red spots and has high temp :(
Its not chicken pox as he has had them and they aren't blisters like pox.

What could it be? :(

Taking him to doctors tomorrow but just wanted to see if anyone knew what it might be.

ruebella? (german measles). Starts on chest/back usually. Could be another thing which I can't remember the name of but which is more common than ruebella.

He has had jabs against ruebella though :/

Its mostly on his face and neck :( and he has just been sick.

I hate not knowing whats wrong, if it gets worse I am taking him to a&e.

has he had his MMR?
if so, it shouldnt be either measles mumps or rubella.

if they are very tiny rough feeling spots, it could be scarlet fever?

That was my first thought, but assumed he would be immunised against it (before anyone says that doesn't give 100% security I know, but the cases are so rare for those immunised now)

would be obvious if this was the case, the spots would be noted after other symptoms.

And it's not something I'd wish on anyone.

I presume you have done the 'glass test' on the spots? If not press a glass on an affected area to see if the coloration disappears under pressure, it should do, if not then you should have it checked as soon as possible.

usually only get scarlet fever when an existing strep A infection isn't treated - pretty rare to get it these days.

luckily the big risks from it are also pretty rare.

ah right :)

Is tonsilitis caused by a strep A infection?

My doctor told me oliver caught scarlet fever because I had tonsilitis at the time.

You know what, it is.

One of the reasons I say it's pretty rare/hard to get is because I work with pretty damn large quantities of most streps every day heh.

Did you get it when you were young? or recently?

scarlet fever!!! Yes!

Vaccinations won't stop you getting the disease just boosts immunity. I've had my MMR and mumps.
Fever causes all kinds of weird side effects, rash would be pretty normal. If it was me ( and this is just mho) I'd dose him up and let him get a decent sleep. Keep an eye on his fever, if it goes higher than is a normal fever for him call the doc. Don't panic about being sick unless he can't keep sips of water down and stops weeing.

I did the glass test as soon as I noticed the spots and its all ok.

His eyes are bright red it looks like he has red eye liner on and white of eyes is pink :(

Faysh said he'll be ok til we get to see doc tomorrow but I just want him seen to now :(
If he gets worse its straight to a&e.

I got it when I was younger :)

I get tonsilitis 3 - 4 times a year normally, but Oliver has never caught it off me, then last time I had it he got really poorly, and we had to get the doctor out at 11pm. He said ti was scarlet fever, and that he had gotten it from my tonsilitis.

poor boy was unwell for ages :(

Gross question, but is there any discharge from his eyes at all?

He's had 2 mmr jabs so he is upto date.

bad thing is he won't take medicine :( he will make himself sick.

Lom, a night in a&e will wipe him out more. Tuck him up in bed and if he gets worse get a doc out to you. A good nights sleep is magical :)

They are just red and watery.

Thats the other problem. crap new system means doctors won't come out here anymore :(
we will have to see out of hours doc at hospital.

I will keep an eye on him as he has high temp still but still won't take medicine and see how he is through the night.

I just worry too much when I don't know whats wrong.
Hate seeing him like this.

I've already said it over msn, but I think it's more likely to either be heat rash, or a rash that indicates he has got or is getting over a virus.

Both my kids come out in rashes which sound like what you're describing when they are towards the end of an illness.

I used to be the same. Not everyone has heat rash that looks exactly the same as everyone thinks. Sometimes, mine would look like my skin had bubbled in places.

If you want him seen tonight hun, get him to a+e, they are happier to be able to reassure you that it's nothing to worry about (I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, I have that 'yeah it's fine' feeling in my bones, lol), than thinking of people sat at home worrying but thinking it's too trivial to take their kids to be checked out :)

best thing for Josh is what pebs said and to let him sleep and I will check in on him through the night.
He will wake up if he's really unwell and then we will phone nhs direct and they will make appointment with out of hours doc at hospital :)

He'll be ok I'm sure. I just hate seeing my kids ill and not knowing what is causing it.

He is fast asleep and was within mins of getting into bed bless him.

My godkids have both had chicken pox several times, apparently some kids just dont build up an immunity to it, and so it flares up again, or they can re catch it.

He slept through with only waking once with a bad dream.
Got doctors at 3.30pm. :)

Josh has Ipetigo and has it really bad :( he can hardly walk as his leg is swollen and sore.
He has it on his scalp face and hand too.
He caught it so quick bless him. I guess this is what happens when kids start school :(

He is on oral anti biotics and piriton and also has calpol so he isn't too happy as he hates medicine.
He should be ok to go to school next week :)

Glad to hear it's nothing too serious over all, though sad that he's got to put up with it for now :(

Be sure to make sure your other kids scrub up well and any cuts and such like are kept clean and away from Josh, IIRC it can infect through injured skin. We don't want the rest of you going down with it :)

That's pretty much the main way it does infect.

separate flannels/towels/comfort things, it's very contagious.

yeah we think he got it from another kid through a bite he had on leg :( as its swelled up and is the worst out of the rest :(
He has been scratching all the lil spots that has come up so they are infected now.

He's had it before but was a little patch. never thought it could get this bad so quick and make him feel so ill too.

He will be better in no time. :D need to warn school though.

Its faysh's fault as he bought a flea home from work. :( it bit Josh and now he has this really bad.
He needs a new job as my cats don't bloody bring fleas home. arghhhh.

It's our quality customers.

I've been eaten alive by fleas, 4 bites on one arm, 2 on the other and one on my leg.

Anyone got any DDT?

Forgotten how to use pm I see :p pffft!!

This is probably not what you want to hear but your average tramp is more likely to have scabies or crabs than fleas. Fleas don't like humans we don't have enough fur, even ones like Will!

Matblack that isn't true, they love me! Whenever Minny (my cat) has fleas I get bitten, once treatment is given to him, they go away and they don't bite me anymore!

I get the same. Once when my dog had fleas and I was a teenager, the doctor was convinced I had scabies. As soon as the dogs fleas had been treated, my bites cleared up. None of the "scabies" treatments had worked.
Cat fleas seem to love me too :)

Don't talk to me about scabies, last time we had someone in with scabies we had to close and decontaminate with boiling water.

I still itch just thinking about it. *scratch*
