I occasionally turn it off, at least I used to. I liked doing community service so I'd need to attack some people to get arrested. I think I found a bug though. After a while some guards would just start attacking me. I wasn't doing any harm but they just came at me. If I attacked them another would turn up and arrest me. I reckon theres some corruption in the local police force :)

Its a bit annoying that spoiler tags don't work in emails but thankfully I have no idea what you're talking about :D

leowyatt
27-10-2008, 12:54
haha I can see why that would be annoying Pete ;D

Has anyone actually got their dog to attack someone who is on the ground? Mine doesn't really help in fights. I can knock someone to the ground with my sword but then have to finish them off as he just runs round all of us :( From what I understood he'd be getting stuck in. Apart from the red eyes does the dog's colour change everyone else' still brown?

NokkonWud

It's a shame you'll all be done before I have the chance to join in on one of your games :(.

Mine is still brown. He looks like he's changed breed too, which is a little odd.

http://www.vanilladays.com/images/photo.jpg-20081025-144446.jpg

How he was at the start. But now he looks like a rottweiler. I guess thats because I'm pure evil and need a bad ass doggie. Still, he doesn't do much in fights. He gets beat up mostly.

Also it gives me 2 days with the PS3 game of the year, plenty of time :p.

My dog attacks people once they're on the ground :) He's a level 4 fighter now though, not sure if that makes a difference in terms of how often he does it or not.

I won't be. I might be on my second playthrough but I'll still be going :D

I'd be surprised if it doesn't win Game of the Year purely on concept alone.
I've only heard positives about it.

I just wish more BD users had PS3's so we could do 4-player Co-op :(.

The achievement whore in me likes how many achievements are popping without even trying. But on a serious, related note, I think it's a good balanced achievement list. It rewards you doing things slightly out of the ordinary but not completely ridiculous. Certainly very achievable for those that don't deliberately aim to get them all.

I have found one bit I don't enjoy though. The Treasure Island sidequest from Bloodstone, it's annoying and the only part that I've succumbed to a guide for because I just wanted to get it done.

28-10-2008, 00:05
Now let's talk dolls... :)

There's an achievement for having all 6 dolls on you at once ~ Garth, Reaver, Hammer, Lucien, Theresa and Hero.
Other than the Hero doll you can only ever win 1 in your game by getting 2nd prize in the Shooting Gallery in Westcliffe. You can win multiple copies however.
Now the plan really is to see if between us all we can get them and then trade to each other to get the achievement. Once any one of us has all 6 and has the achievement there's nothing stopping us from trading all of them to the next person...

I managed to get mine earlier and it was a Theresa Doll. So I've this and the Hero one.
Has anyone else won one yet and anyone else up for this combined effort?

Erm, mostly everything ;D
Iirc I own 2 pubs, lots of shops and stalls, every gypsy caravan possible, quite a few houses.
I've got to the point that I can buy mostly anything relatively easily. So I just buy whatever I walk past :D

I'm now up to 4k every 5mins

I'm aiming to buy everything really. I know there's a few big places I need to buy still and another pub I think.

I do need to buy a new gun though, but I've got a Master Cleaver so melee is sorted nicely :D

Matblack
28-10-2008, 14:36
Hmmmmm

Last night I got married on a whim to a whore in Bloodstone, shes a character from a mission and I took her to the house I bought which happened to be the one from the mission also and shes not happy, I am also now very ugly because I was forced to make a life or death decision and choose the 'good' route, I have also developed a halo :/

I'm very very tempted to off my wife, anyone know what the repercussions are? I see from her information that she would probably ask for a divorce if I made her misserable enough. :(

leowyatt

According to all the report on my family my wife is happy as the boxes say "Happy" and "Very Happy" but the slider at the top like the one I had to bump up to get her to marry me is way down low. How do I increase that?

I've given her, her favourite gift and even given her the lovin' she was demanding but it seems she still isn't happy.

 how on earth do you lot get so much money?

Mixture of money from sidequests and collecting rent. I've not fiddled the rent at all but it still comes flowing in nicely :) You start out with not much but it really builds up quickly if you invest wisely/buy lots :D

MB - I've killed two past husbands, can't remember much of the repercussions so I'm guessing it wasn't too bad :D Probably just a few negative points. I'm still considered extremely good (got the Paragon achievement) and working my way up the pure scale.

I've got my renown up to 36k too, hoping to hit 50k tonight  Only problem is it means I have far too many stalkers :p Right pain when you're trying to steal something, turn round and there's half a dozen spectators telling me how wonderful I am!

leowyatt
28-10-2008, 14:51

Haly
29-10-2008, 22:08
15hrs :D
But I have about 90k renown and own a hell of a lot of properties. I've done nearly all the sidequests possible afaik, just need to finish up The Archaeologist quest then get some achievements done.
Then the second playthrough can commence :D I think the main quest can be done extremely quickly if that's all you do.

Creature
29-10-2008, 22:11
I did it in 11 hours, with a fair few sidequests, I think it can be done in 6-7 hours. I'm currently searching for the gargoyles at the moment, quite easy with a guide. I do, however, hate Wraithmarsh, creeps the hell out of me.

Haly
29-10-2008, 23:06

Third time I'll rush through it to see how fast I can do it. Second time I'll try some different stuff and get the rest of the achievements done.

The first one was a million miles from what was originally talked about, and Molyneux does have a history of underdelivering, nevermoreso than with Fable and Black and White, again with Black and White 2 and now this...

I really hope it's amazing, but I can't see it being better than good and that's why it was the first game to be sacrificed from the upcoming titles and something I hope to pick up at a later date (or cheap).
I didn't get TFU because I thought it would massively under-deliver, Star Wars games usually do with KOTOR being the rare game that didn't, but that was made by Bioware and was an RPG so it had the story. In creating a game like TFU there was always the chances of flaws in the balance of power and I believe Davey highlighted several of these on his blog.

I hope Fable 2 is amazing, it really could be, co-op sounds great and the achievements seem a really good blend, but as you say, a niggling feeling and Molyneux's past track record...

I would like to think so, but if game histories have taught us anything it's that classic games seldom get released at the same time as other classic games, and that media hype is kept to its fullest for the games that don't let us down.

Fallout 3, Little Big Planet and Gears of War 2 have all maintained their constant hype - even Dead Space is getting a lot. The big media push for Fable 2 has died down somewhat.

The last time I remember such major game releases being released so close is Resident Evil 2 and Gran Turismo on the Playstation. (Though I'm sure there are more).

So many warning signs, for me personally, are there with Fable 2 (and again with Banjo Kazooie 2) that with so much attention on the others by the media that it's for a reason.

Saying that, hopefully the media have had to choose because all the games coming out over the next 6 weeks are amazing.

Ready to admit you were wrong about Fable yet? :p

NokkonWud
30-10-2008, 11:14

Very little. You don't *have* to lose the dog, all depends on something right at the end which I won't go into :)
But might be wise to get everything done.

After that, you go back to the game world but in my case I also have no doggy so I lose out on dig spots etc :( And the world just doesn't seem as nice with my faithful dog, Digger.

As an aside, the length of the game is short but the sidequests make up for it, and I'd much rather a game that takes me less than 20hrs to complete but this level of enjoyment than an epic which bores me a lot of the time. It keeps the pace perfectly imo. As an example, Metal Gear Solid took me about 6hrs to complete first time round, but it's still up there as one of the best game experiences for me :D

I didn't have the heart to use the glitch. All the morality in the game must have rubbed off me too much ;D I might be half tempted after the second playthrough, see how things go.

I picked the ending I wanted then glitched it to get all 3 achievements. I turned it off after I got each of them but in hind sight I had time to drop to the dashboard.

Only got 2 achievements to get now. I've 49 of the gargoyles and need the cash to buy the castle to get the 50th and I need a replay to sacrifice all the toffs from Fairfax gardens!

I loved how there was still lots to do after you finish the game.

I wonder if there's anyway that I could join your game for the completionist achievement, seeing as all you have to do it drop a skill and re-learn it to unlock it again.

My biggest problem at the moment is getting my wife and daughter off the bloody game.

They talk me into putting a 2nd TV and small sofa in the spare bedroom so get me out the way and now they're up there!

Kind of talked her into a 2nd 360 for downstairs. Arcade bundle with Lips next month for £130 ish :)

I reckon my Mum would love Fable 2 (especially as you can't really die) so tempted to see if I can afford to get her an Arcade bundle for Christmas. Make DVDs more pleasant too as we've got a failing DVD player that means half the time the sound doesn't work

I did the coop ones with my wife but they'd be easy with on your tod with 2 controllers.

For the emote one just hold the same emote at the same character and release at the same time.
For the combat one, find a group of enemies and try shooting the same one at the same time.

Took us 5 mins at most.

I'm nowhere near the Real Estate achievement. I think I've got about 750k worth of buildings, though I have about 750k in gold after I left the Xbox on all night by accident (thankfully standing around in Bowerstone Market). Won't buy anything else just yet as I believe there is a building I need to buy later for a key or gargoyle that's 1 million gold to purchase.

I've also told myself that no matter whether Fallout arrives today or not, I won't play it until I've finished off the main story of Fable. I'm assuming that when I finish the game, all current side quests and jobs remain so I can finish all of them off?

I only need the one gargoyle from said $1m castle for 1000/1000.

You also need $250k for something for another gargoyle and $150k for another property to get a silver key. So start saving!

I believe it may still be £30 in Sainsburys, but either way, I would say it's worth £40.

If you had to spend £40 on one game between Fable 2 or Fallout 3 however I don't think I could say for certain which, let alone adding Gears of War 2 into the equation.

Chris said it's part of a trade and any game from their new games range for £10, so basically a £30 trade in.

Might be worth waiting til Friday for Gears of War, or possibly holding out for Mirror's Edge/Call of Duty 5/Left 4 Dead, but could end up as a trade & £15 game.

Davey_Pitch
03-11-2008, 16:36
Already pre-ordered Gears, so no point waiting for that, and as you say, waiting longer may mean it drops out of any offers it's currently in. Will probably be safer to get the £25 now, and perhaps put it towards Mirror's Edge or Rock Band 2.

Fable II Premium Downloadable Content

Lionhead Studios and Microsoft Game Studios Announce First Fable II Premium Downloadable Content

Fable II adventures continue with downloadable content and free pack to release mid-December 2008

The epic journey begun in Fable II, the fastest selling RPG on Xbox 360, is not over. Starting mid-December 2008, fans will be summoned back into Albion's service with the release of the Knothole Island downloadable content pack. The remote island of Knothole is dying: its golden sands and lush vegetation are covered with snow, its people freezing, its treasures buried. Only a hero can face the trials of the three shrines to bring back the sunshine.

Following its release on Xbox 360 on Oct. 21, more than 1.5 million units of Fable II flew off store shelves worldwide in the first two weeks, making it the most popular game, across all platforms, in the U.S. in October. With the release of the first Fable II downloadable content, available exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points, gamers will be invited to set sail for Knothole Island, where new quests, wondrous items and bizarre characters await.

Also in mid-December, fans everywhere will be able to enhance their Fable II experience with the release of a free Fable II downloadable pack exclusively on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. To engage in co-op gameplay with a player who has already downloaded the Knothole Island content, gamers will need to download the free pack. Both co-op players must download the Knothole Island (Premium) pack in order to play new quests and enjoy the complete Knothole Island co-op experience.

Free and premium downloaders will receive a show of gifts, including Knight's Boots, Assassins Gloves, a special Weight Loss Potion, collectible silver book and more. Players will also be able to check their standing in over 50 new Leaderboards on Lionhead.com.

What's the best/quickest way to start building up some gold guys? :)

Also, can you get to a bigger/better world map? I'm just aimlessly exploring at the moment without any real sense of where I am or where I'm going :D

Haly
01-12-2008, 17:15
Buy as much property as you can ad infinitum. You can rake it in nicely then :) Or if you want, I can give you some next time you're online :)
Only world map is the one you see when you go to your inventory etc.
Lack of a good map is one of its downfalls sadly :(

Daz
01-12-2008, 17:18
Yeah, it's a shame. I'd like to know the lay of the land a bit, what town is in what direction etc, it's a bit more immersive.

I haven't yet found any property I can afford ;D Dont really feel like bashing 'A' for hours chopping wood, so I may nick a bit to buy my first if that's ok, get me started :)

Haly
01-12-2008, 17:21
I was weird and quite liked woodchopping ;D
For money though, the best money is with bartending but that doesn't open up as quickly as woodchopping.

Give me a nudge on MSN or on here and I'll send you some over :) I'm working tonight but I'll be about till 7.30ish if you don't mind me literally logging on, giving money and going :D

Daz
01-12-2008, 17:23
I'll try and grab you :) Might not catch you but there's no rush, appreciate the help though :)

How does the local co-op work?

Haly
01-12-2008, 17:35
The word badly springs to mind :D
It's a bit crap really. The second player becomes a henchman rather than a character in their own right.
That's about all I remember of it as I hardly played it, just used it for some co-op achievements.

Oooo..

Just noticed my Fable 2 is now 1000/1100 points...

The Collector

Acquire all the mystery items in The Box of Secrets shop, or see another Hero do so.

The Meteorologist

Bring all of Knothole Island’s weather problems under control, or help another Hero to do so.

The Bibliophile

Find all the books detailing the history of Knothole Island, or help another Hero to do so.

I wasn't! Now it means I'll have to get the game again in the future as well as get the DLC too. I'll wait until sometime next year when I can pick it up for peanuts.

Excellent, I meant to ask as Mrs Abooie was after them for the achievement (me think she's getting the bug she protesteth). Giving them back to me won't do any good as we've only one copy of the game so if you could give them to:

"Zachary Quack"

Would be cool :) Absolutely no rush though. Could even give them to Daz first and he could then pass em on.

One of the better games I've come across this year tbh. At first I hated its unique take on the RPG genre but it was a nice breath of fresh air. Shame combat and the accumulation of money was a bit too easy though.

Everytime I play I end up looking for my sodding wife who has buggedly gone AWOL, despite the fact that the game states she is alive and in Bowerstone. My unkillable son is around though :( Looking forward to that new content though!

Forgot about the above sorry Abooie :o Adding her now and I'll get on with it asap!

Was going to post to say that the DLC should finally emerge January 13th :D
Those who have uncovered every treasure, bludgeoned every bandit and cracked every wisecracking gargoyle in Albion will be pleased to note that Fable 2's Knothole Island add-on (800), initially delayed due to technical issues, is now scheduled to arrive on Xbox Live Marketplace next Tuesday, January 13th. The downloadable detour will add an isle's worth of quests, items and specialty shops for you to uncover and / or fart at.

Lionhead's community blog notes that January 13th will also bring a free title update which fans -- and Oakfield's abbot -- have been eagerly awaiting. You can look forward to new items, clothing and leaderboards being patched in along with the, uh, patch.

Thanks Jen though there's really no rush at all :)

We'll definately get this dlc, cheers for the heads up, this is appearing sooner than I thought it would.

As a beside I still get 1 or 2 messages and/or friends requests every single day about these dolls based on a couple of posts I made (which now can't be edited or deleted) and I've had to add some notes on my profile. Quite amazing really.

Daz

I had Shadowrun on Vista and the amount of messages/FR's I got was amazing. Got some real abuse as well.

I'd still like a punt at those Dolls sometime btw. Going back to Fable soon :)

How is the DLC?

Kainz
14-01-2009, 06:24
Well I already want to shoot my dog who is becoming more of a nuisance than a tool. Within a minute he must have found around nine dig spots and just would not stfu.

The visuals on the DLC town are really nice, and the texture quality after the first mission is complete seemed to be a lot better - either that or it really has been a while since I played. There are apparently 3 quests in the DLC and I was in the middle of the second one until I fell asleep.

They mostly consist of puzzles and fighting these 'shadow' like creatures/humanoids. The DLC doesn't feel that special, but there are shops and property to buy in that new town as well as new wearables and books...
