What's everyones view on this? Have you ever had one or thought about it?
Any experiences?
I had one yesterday and I'm not feeling to well today. I felt very faint before and during gym today and it wasn't until later I thought it might be a side affect.
Never had so much as a cold in my life, so I'm not about to start getting myself jabbed with things for the sake of it - my body can take care of itself.

I don't tend to get colds.. but I do get flu..
Really? Do you really think the flu jab is more beneficial than not? I'd; have thought a healthy person like yourself would cope better without one?
I thought flu jabs was for people with low immune systems ie diabetics, old peeps and poorly children/adults.
Like Will said I thought a healthy person as yourself Huddy wouldn't need it.
Hope you stop feeling pants soon :)

I get it for free at work, among many other jabs.
So I've taken the opportunity, and had it.
Getting a mild case of whatever jab your getting or feeling unwell is a common side effect of any jab. they are infact injecting you with a live (but "disarmed") copy of whatever it is they're immunising you against.
I was the worst when I got my pneumonia jab.

As above, I get it at work FOC ..
I've had it every year for the past 6 years. For me it is more preventative than because I am prone to the flu but I have noticed since getting the jab if I do pick anything serious up it is generally gone in half the time it use to take.
Only last year did I feel off after having it (my arm actually swelled up) but all other years I was fine. I'll be having it this year on 3rd November.

Ive had it the last 8 years due to my job. Marchant cant have injections and so me his Mum and his Dad all have one to try and reduce the risk of him getting it. Hes nearly died twice from pneumonia, so goodness knows what flu would do to him.
My arm is really painful for about a week afterwards, like a dull ache. I also get a bit of a yucky feeling but id rather have that than full blown flu.
Mines booked for a week today.
My Mum had one a few years ago and it gave her a really nasty rash that took about 3 months to clear up and had lots of problems. So she's not had it since.
However my Dad always used to have it every year due to his asthma and arthritis and never had any ill effects from it.
I can see why people have it, but not for me as I'm relatively healthy usually anyway :) Certainly essential for those with weaker immune systems or who are around them.

Awwww poor Boy :(
Yeah I can see why you would need it. :)
I didn't think of work until Faysh said about him having one lol
Might as well have it if its free imo

Lucky ****. I get several a year. :(
So yes, I'll be having one. Free.
I have to say even if I were offered one for free, I wouldn't take it. I don't like taking pills at hte best of times, let alone have jabs for the sake of having them.
Flu is a virus and mutates almost on a daily basis, whilst the jab can prevent a lot of combinations of the virus it's not flawless and I'm a firm believer that our bodies were designed to recover from illness.
The only pills I've ever taken to protect me were malaria and yellow fever tablets, however I never got the side effects people seem to have. I'm very strange or very lucky.
However, if it helps people then I'm all for it - it's daft not receiving treatment if it's beneficial to you.
Sounds like a very similar attitude to me there Will :)
I'll be the odd one out and say the years when I've had the jab (recommended as I'm asthmatic) I've had flu. Not had either for 3 years now :)
Symptoms would be normal Huddy, take it easy for a day or two.
Had mine today. More from a preventative point of view. I am mildly Asthmatic so the way I look at it costs the NHS £x to give me the injection. If I ever did get the flu it would cost my employer considerably more with me being off. I can honestly say that I have only ever had flu once and it's awful. So this is more prevention than anything else

Yeah i agree it mutates, but they catch the strain earlier around the world don't they, as it spreads across? And use that as a basis for the jab at the time, no? So you're protected against roughly the strain that round at that present moment in time (until it obviously mutates again).
I'm getting mine this year. Had real flu last year (not a heavy cold) and it wasn't nice; bed ridden for days, pain all over, serious fever, two weeks off work and took months to completely recover and put the weight and strength back on. Won't ever be calling a cold "flu" again, that's for sure.

My little sister is mildly asthmatic but has never actually gone to get a jab, i think i will look into getting dad one this year though.
Just remember you can't have it if you're allergic to eggs

Might as well make use of them ;)
I'm really not fond of taking unnecessary medication or the like. I avoid paracetamol or Ibuprofen unless the pain is crippling me. I'm a firm believer in letting the body deal with infections and the like itself, and doing as little as I can get away with to disrupt the bodies natural balance.
That said whilst I was an asthmatic, and later with lung problems, I had the flu jab done every year after I had flu and suffered extremely bad asthma when younger, to the point of having to get the ambulance out.
Every time without fail my arm would ache for about 24 hours, and I'd feel slightly groggy whilst not suffering any specific symptoms. After that any flu that was going around would usually bypass me.
