Hi guys. I am pleading to you of the car community for help please!

I have an 03 plate Nissan Micra and it has been as good as gold since i got it - until now! There is something seriously wrong with either the electrics or locks.
Basically when you get in the car and turn the engine on the boot will unlock and open (normally the boot can only be opened manually - push release button), and when you get out to shut it, then get back in it will open again. To combat this problem i've been locking the car internally with the lock function, which is fine as the boot won't open now, but when you're driving along the car will beep constantly untill you put your foot ont he brake, then it stops until the break is released and continues to beep. Now to stop it beeping i have to press the unlock button inside the car - but then the boot opens!

I have rung up Nissan and they said the earliest they can have it is Tuesday, but to me that is 6 days of total chaos in the car which i can't be dealing with!

So, has anybody any ideas what it might be or what i can do to sort it out? I'm not expecting a solution (though it would be nice) just some advice on what to do!

Thanks in advance guys!
Sarah xx

Sounds to my limited car knowledge to be an earth fault on your central locking.

£5 says nissan won't be able to find it.

A temporary fix would probably be to remove the central locking fuse. The car will still lock manually but you shouldn't get any ghostly happenings. I had to do it on my Mondeo once - there was a corrosion in the wiring loom that meant whenever you locked it, it immediately unlocked again.

I've got an earth fault that affects the backlight on my radio display/clock. I've had the dash into bits about 500 times looking for it. As has my pocket expert on car electrics. (well twice)

Thanks guy for all the suggestions! You never let a girl down! I had a look at the fuses and couldn't see one labeled for the boot or locking, so rang up Nissan and they said bring it in, which shocked me!
Much ummmm'ing and arrr'ing by the mechanic (which equals £££!), and he decided to take the lock off the boot and replace it, and it seems to have done the job! Didn't set me back as much as i predicted, and i don't have a car which makes me want to hurt people when i drive it!

Unfortunately not, ran out about 6 months ago.

I still reckon cars have built in microchips which make things go wrong after the 3 yr warrenty is up! :(
