So, after the huge success that was RB1, Harmonix decide to release a sequel, excellent :D It's only a few months since the first came out over here, but with the date for the second looking to be November, I can't wait to destroy yet another guitar game.
The songs look a lot harder, the graphics look better, and the songs are also looking a lot better. So anyone except me and Davey picking this up?

Thank f**k for that. Pretty sure I'll be getting it.

You play on expert as well then Burble?

I will certainly be buying it at some point but i've got a dilemma. I've never owned a guitar hero esque game before so i completely lack any peripherals, I'm uninterested in the drums + microphone all i want is the guitar. With Rock band 2 and Guitar hero IV both being released relatively close to each other i need to decide which peripheral to get. I like the idea of the touch sensitive neck on the GH4 guitar, but i hear the RB2 one will be far better built. No matter which i opt for i'll be getting the 'solus' edition of the other so the songs and game play etc aren't really important, anyone got any thoughts?
You buying the new peripherals Creature?

God no, haven't got the money for it, and parents won't pay it either. I'm cool with what i've got atm, it'll all work so all good.

You could grab a very cheap copy of GHIII with the wireless guitar and then buy Rock Band 2 solus :)

Nay, hard. But I find hard not too difficult whereas expert is impossible.

Ah, fair enough. I've always found the jump to expert on most guitar games is quite steep, but RB seems pretty good. Most of the harder hard songs are harder than the easy ones on expert. I think if your final tier on hard, tier 4/5 on expert shouldn't really pose a problem.

Streeteh, the drums are brilliant, I find it much more fun than the guitar sections, so I would definitely recommend it.

I tried the drums round Davey's a few months back and omg I was rubbish :o it was extremely difficult.
I'm completely crap at the drums. I have no sense of rhythm in my left foot and still can't use my right foot properly after busting my leg.

I'm getting it! :D
Can't wait. Likely getting the GH:WT solus too (depending on reviews anyway).
Drums are a must though Streeteh. Such a good challenge and on some songs a decent cardio workout to boot :D

But, but, but! The GH4 guitar has a ipod-esque touchpad on the neck allowing for top class widdleeee-weeeeeeerrrr (that's my typing version of a guitar solo) epicness. It really does appeal but i heard the build quality for GH3 guitars was tosh and thus am worried about the build quality for its successor.

In an ideal world mate, i would have them. However i share my rather small flat with my girlfriend who is clearly wearing the trousers in this relationship and has forbade me having them due to the room they'll take up. A sad day indeed :(

I'd agree with that. RB songs are fairly easy on expert I think (bar GG&HT which I've yet to beat), as I only failed one of them once the entire way through. Some of the DLC is extremely difficult, but I think the disc songs are relatively easy compared to previous guitar games. I'm happy it'll be harder though. Hopefully one day I'll improve to the point where I can go back to Rock Band 1, GH2 and GH3 and finish all the expert careers, considering I'm at most a couple of tiers away on all of them.

I'll certainly be getting it! And then I'll have more songs to play with Psymonkee on our rockband evenings :D

Ooh, can we play WGFA :D
Ooo, so does this mean that I can buy RB1 without any instruments for a sensible price now?

Is there going to be another stupidly long delay before the PS3 gets it?
I still haven't bought the first one yet, as by the time it was released on PS3 over here I was back in an actual rock band, so spent all my money on real instrument stuff :p

Don't count on it :(
Once RB2's out RB1 should be worthless in effect (unless you really want to play the 4 songs that don't transfer) but I'm guessing since 3 of the songs are kinda popular (Paranoid, Enter Sandman, Run to the Hills) that people/shops may want to keep the price high :(

You could import it from the US, all PS3 games are region free.
Just get the EU Band in a Box.

Woooot!
UK, October 28, 2008 - Rock Band 2 looks set to see a release in the EU before the year's end, with a recent statement asserting that the game will be out 'this side of Christmas'.
Following the agonising seven month wait endured by the EU for the original Rock Band, it seems that the game's sequel will be here sooner than expected. An invite to a Rock Band 2 event sent out to UK gaming press from EA's PR company Shine states that "We can finally announce the release of Rockband 2 will be this side of Christmas," meaning that it should hit these shores not long after the games September release in the US.
We're currently chasing EA to get a more precise release date, and will keep you updated as more comes in.

I really want this.
I've done GH3 on Hard, ploughing through Expert now - I'm about 15 songs in.
Wouldn't mind a new game to get me interested again :)
I am gonna order it from the US along with Resistance 2 next week :D
About time they gave us a firm release date. I cannot wait for this game. Rockband is the best game i've ever owned and i'm really looking forward to playing it as world tour over live :)

Finally!
EA has just announced that music game Rock Band 2 will be seeing a release on November 21st in the UK: putting it right up close with rival Guitar Hero: World Tour. Sadly for many this release is only on 360, practically giving Activision the advantage on a silver platter.

Creature and I will be happy, considering our birthday is only 3 days after this :D

Another 360 timed exclusive?
At least PS3 users can just import it.

Nokkon can you expand on this a little.
I just played through Guitar Hero III and would like something that has more tracks on it and more DLC so I am thinking that Rock Band 2 might be something to look at. However given that it is PS3 exclusive at the launch date would I need RB1 and import the songs. Also can I use the Gibson from GH3 on RB2 and RB ??
So many questions and so little time

All PS3 games are region free, so those who have bought Rock Band 1 in the UK with the instruments can easily just import RB2 and play it with the UK instruments.
Yes, you can use GH instruments on Rock Band 1 and 2, if you get Rock Band (1) you can transfer all your songs from that into Rock Band 2 for a small fee and all DLC bought for Rock Band 1 is playable in Rock Band 2 as well (which isn't the case with the GH games into GHWT).

With the exception of the Metallica album Death Magnetic, that will work in GH3 and GHWT :)

TBH I won't have the space for a Drum kit. 3 Bedroom house, 1 six year old and another one on the way means no more toys for Loki ;) Singing doesn't really appeal to me as I already have SingStar So I will look into getting RB1 and using the GH III Guitar

The drums aren't permanent, they can be taken apart or even lowered to fit into small cupboards. It's not a case of build them and have them in the way all the time. Drums are undoubtedly the best part of it too. But you could get an Xbox360 for the same price as some instruments and that's where you realise how expensive they are.

Yeah, forgot about that. 1 album still isn't that great though.
I'm really looking forward to buying the drumkit. I've got RB1 but just the game as I couldn't afford the kit. Annoyingly its released just after the NXE update, when my launch day 360 is due to rrod I'm sure :)
