So anyone else looking forward to this besides me and Abooie? :)
Been watching videos of it on the XBLM and it looks great :D I only ever played the original at a mate's so never got to complete it but it was a classic. The new one looks much the same, plus my pre-order includes the original on XBLA :D

Completly forgot this was coming out. Loved the original, and i'm sure I still have it somewhere, and getting the arcade version. Will probably pick this up around Christmas as it'll continue my long trend of owning nearly every single Rare game there is since Goldeneye.

I know. I do seem to enjoy Rare's games.

Heck I'll admit it, I really did enjoy Grabbed by the Ghoulies too....

... Hated Project Zero though, but this doesn't count imo.

What about Kameo? One of their best tbh, only behind Goldeneye imo.

Loved it. It was the game that really made the 360 launch :)

I'm a big Rare fan, but like Creature, it'll be later in the year for me - funds are tied up elsewhere. Shame though as I'd have liked the original Banjo.

I didn't really get into Kameo, not sure why :/ Loved the premise though.

This one was my third pre-order between now and Christmas. Gears 2 and Fable 2 were certainties but the third slot was a competitive one! But I didn't fancy another FPS or another RPG, so this fitted the bill perfectly :)

I had one more, Sacred 2, but now I've heard it's been delayed on the 360/PS3 until March 09 (PC version is still on track for early Nov).

I'm very tempted with Prince of Persia or Mirrors Edge though... must resist!

I really, really want it, but it's sadly one of the sacrifices that has to be made.

Just a heads up. Zavvi are now also doing the xbla banjo deal for £35 incl.

Project Zero was a bloody fantastic game, uber-scary though.
Are you talking about Perfect Dark Zero?

The demo for this is now out.

I've had a brief play and I'm not actually overly impressed :/ Slightly reconsidering my pre-order in fact

Ouch. I'll give it a go later on I think.

I felt the same way (quelle surprise!) but my daughter loved it and that's good enough for me!

I've cancelled mine now, just not worth the risk when the money's too important to me and when there's so many other games to tempt me. £40 just seems too large a risk.....I might do better to just buy Banjo Kazooie for the N64 :D

I'll give the game another go on me own though I am tempted to put this in the buy next year for £15 pile.

£15 pile was my thinking as well :D
But it makes sense if your daughter likes it to get it :)

Edit: I can get the original on the N64 for less than a fiver on ebay, seems worth a go :D

So... I tried the demo. How I wish it was a traditional platformer, it looks and sounds fantastic, some nice humour too, and while the driving mechanic works well - it's just I don't do driving games, never have done. I do like the creation tool though, I can see that being fun to play around with. Not worth a full purchase though!

Rare are a shadow of their former N64 selves, they've not released anything that compares to stuff like Goldeneye and Banjo Kazooie for years now.

I almost feel bad though, I mean, they're trying something different. As much as I would have loved another platformer, it would just be another platformer, even if it was a very good one

Not 100% sure what I feel about it really, I just know I've never really taken to driving games and ultimately, thats the core gameplay mechanic.

It's about time I revived this thread.

I picked the game up on Friday based solely on my daughter enjoying running round the demo. After playing it myself I felt disenchanted and cancelled the pre-order I had. Despite the fact I thought it looked good I wasn't taken by the reliance on vehicles and didn't think it really 'worked'.

Now I've played it and I'm calling it one of my games of the year.

The pacing and imagination are exemplary, the games oozes fun and the graphics are probably the best I've ever seen. The scale and palette of the first world (not the same as the demo) is staggering, truly staggering and flying around in a plane, or speeding around on a hovercraft or a motorbike is a joy in itself.

The way the game's been engineered is sublime, there's always something to do, everything is easy to get to every challenge is unique. There's also a ton of deft touches and not a single sign of a sloppy design shortcut.

All in all I'm really digging it and as it seems to have been so overlooked I'd just suggest those that were on the fence to give it a 2nd look. I've also just seen that Giant Bomb have given it 5 stars. It also earned 8/10 in my latest games(tm).

I started it and couldnt get into it, seemed a bit generic and dull, but after reading the game review i was going to give it another shot.

If you think the imagination in Banjo is great you'd love LittleBigPlanet. Shame it's a PS3 exclusive as you and your daughter (and your wife) would love all playing that at the same time.

I showed my daughter some trailers and she did enjoy them.

This game has never been on my radar whatsoever. Perhaps I should download the demo and give it a whirl as it sounds like good fun :)

Getting sent this via Lovefilm so that's solved my quandry about whether it's worth a shot :)
Hopefully I enjoy it despite not liking the demo.

That seems to be the general consensus, most people didn't like the demo but really like the game. Hoping this is the case with me when I get my grubby little mits on it.
