I'm a Gameplay man myself. Good prices (though not always the best), but simply the most reliable site I've ever used. They're never failed to get a game to me on time, with about 90% of my orders coming the day earlier. Couldn't recommend them enough :)

Beat me to it. Tend to use gameplay over other places because, as Davey says, you tend to get them a day or 2 earlier.

Shopto.net seem the best these days and I'm a long time Gameplay customer but they're not as good as they used to be since merging with Game.

I'll actually go with Game rather than gameplay now for the reward points.

I look on Gameplay, Game and shopto.net now and see whoever is cheapest at the time :)

I didn't notice much of a difference when they merged.
I always go with ShopTo though.

Even with reward points etc.. I class good customer service should anything go wrong above all and for that ShopTo and Gameplay are in a class of their own. Whoever has the best deal between those two, go there, I'd even pay an extra couple of quid more there than elsewhere.

I can't say enough good things about either.

ShopTo also send it Recorded Delivery and text your mobile as soon as it's on the van so you know you're definitely getting it next day, which is a very good thing.

I have always wanted to use Shopto.net as the prices seem spot on but the site looks, dare I say it amateurish. What really puts me off is the flashing mobile number. It looks like a work from home enteprise and I wonder if my CC details would be safe with them. Prob a complete over reaction on my part. For orders, I usually use Game for the reward points especially on pre orders.

Definitely an overreaction Loki.
Some of the best companies I've used have terrible sites (Movietyme comes to mind).

They're even nominated for a Golden Joystick this year for best retailer. (I voted them ahead of Gameplay for the first time in my life).

Yeah shopto really are great, as Nokkon has said their customer service is awesome.

I had a couple of bad mix ups with Gameplay just after they merged with Game so it's kinda soured my thoughts of them.

Shopto.net aren't in my best book at the moment.

I bought Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway from them and when it came it was the EU version with "Not For Sale in UK" on the back.

When I sent them an email they replied with basically 'sorry, but tough'.

I'm now severely limited with how I can sell it on so I'm not very happy.

For new games I really don't think you can fault game.co.uk. Points back and for preorders you'll always get them on the Thursday.

With 2nd hand games I generally go for play.com and it's where I've been selling mine.

For price I do like Zavvi but haven't taken delivery of anything yet (GoW 2 will be my first) and Tesco recently sent me a game I preordered on release day so I'd consider them too.

They had an article on their website about this and they are beginning to write on the game descriptions which version it is - they can sell them cheaper if they get large batches of EU ones, the problem of course is going to trade them which is why they are labelling it on the site.

I can't remember if the article was on their website or on their newsletter, but it has been mentioned.

All my pre-orders go through game as you get points and they pay quidco on pre-orders whereas shopto do not.

shopto.net the only problem is they will only send it recorded, so if nobody is at you house, you are fecked.

NokkonWud

Also, ShopTo will send out another game if the other one is lost in the mail after only 3 days as opposed to the Royal Mail recommended 14.

Unless you have my postman! Apparently he doesn't care that something is recorded and needs a signature, which is fine by me :p

You get pre-orders from Game through on a Thursday? If that's the case I'll likely go with them instead for the points, as they're almost always comparable with Gameplay for price.

Hello,

I know Nokkon knows but most probably don't. I moderate the Shopto forum and know the CEO fairly well, chat to him on MSN most days.

The EU problem has been identified and is fixed so soon you shall be able to have the option of choosing between EU or UK copies (where available). We already do indicate which copy it is (Look for the Flag on the page!).

Our recorded deliveries are generally next day (with a few exceptions if your very remote). And as mentioned we'll send a replacement.

Since quite a few of you use Shopto, I'll try and post when Igor (Shopto CEO) gives me a headsup on an upcoming good deal. Likewise if you've got a problem, give me a shout and I'll try and get it sorted.

I'm a bit annoyed at shopto now.
I cancelled my pre-order for Fable 2 a couple of weeks ago so I could get it cheaper with Tesco. Just checked my e-mail to find they've dispatched it and taken the money.
Sure I can return it for a refund but it's the hassle of it which annoys me. It's lucky I can cover £38 for a week or so until I receive my money back otherwise I'd have more trouble on my hands.
Puts me off pre-ordering from them again tbh.

Are you sure you fully followed the Cancellation through to the end, there's several pages to go through to confirm Cancellation. You should have then received a cancellation email.

As far as I know I did. I remember it being surprisingly awkward compared to the likes of Gameplay and taking more clicks.
It'll no doubt be their word against mine which I'll lose as I don't have e-mails from two weeks ago stored anymore, but I'll definitely remember the problem next time round and be less keen to go there for pre-orders.

Shopto are cowboys imho.

GAME are spot on always use them for pre-orders. But not the high street well supermarkets are released games at £30 or less, Fifa 09, Pes 2009, Star Wars FU.

Hope they have GoW 2 for £30

The reason I was annoyed was the picture of the game on the site has a giant UK BBFC 15 in the corner unlike the 18 PEGI one on the box I received.

I understand that things have been changed since and it's now more implicit, but this fact alone plus the giant Not for Sale in UK on the back of the copy I received I'm sure would be enough to cover me if I went to the trading standards office.

It was really the "Take note of the PAL EU VERSION if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, and take care in the future" as the curt reply from customer services that pissed me off if I'm honest though.

edit: looking now it still has "PAL - UK and European version" at the top of the page misleading the fact the game is in fact not the UK version.

I think the UK & European means you may get either. As I said their working on being able to choose when their is an option.

Several? I clicked to cancel my pre-order and then confirmed it. It was really easy and I got the cancellations straight through.

I didn't realise Gameplay were bought by Game. That would explain why their prices haven't been that great lately.

I'm experimenting and have ordered GoW 2 with Zavvi to see how they do, but I'm a bit of a whore and buy off whoever is cheapest!
