Following all the talk of blog roll etc.. I uploaded Wordpress to my domain last night and had a play around this morning - very impressive..

http://www.huddysworld.co.uk/TheAdmiralsLog/

I've already updated the banner, change some css and created a few pages.. Basically, just having a play around.

I will need some help as I go along:

Firstly,

I created a new post for Tomb Raider, which you can see on the opening page but i would have liked to see this under PC Gaming>Currently Playing.

How do i see this on that page.

Also, How do I get rid of that "Paul Hudson's Website at the top". If I blank it out, I get nothing in the tab.

Did you setup the pc gaming and currently playing categories huddy?

the text you want rid of will probably be in a page, so you'll need to edit theme using the wordpress dashboard.

you can't?? can you edit your current post and add it to that category?

EDIT: I think you need to edit your header so the link loads the category and not the page PC gaming :)

I'm quite habppy to set up an account for you to have a look.

Basically, I'm trying to get a page Called PC gaming, with two sub pages.. One for games in progress and the other for Games completed..

I want to add posts to each category?

you basically want to have 1 page show posts of a certain category yes?

I tried to set this up when GTAIV came out but never got that far with it. There are plugins available which might help.

Yep so I can post my reviews on one page, and my tecnhical stuff on another page.

Impressive as it is, I don't think this is going to do what I want.. What do you think?

whereabouts in the backend do you chop the code so that you can get links on the top menu for categories. Buggered if I know. I would love to use Wordpress as it is so lightweight but Joomla is so easy to set up categories, links and menus in comparison

Some themes make it much easier than others loki. Mine has a lot going on for example, but also allows for a lot of customization.

I'll have a look at Joomla this week.

I'm still looking at Joomla but for the moment, I'm not giving up on WordPress.

I have set up a test web page to query the Wordpress DB and show posts on an external page, using this advice:

http://www.corvidworks.com/articles/wordpress-content-on-other-pages (http://www.corvidworks.com/articles/wordpress-content-on-other-pages)

And that works

However, I want to show other information, such as the image, comments, full post, date added, author, etc. Basically, what options are there?

I've installed Joomla:

Doesn't look too bad.. I'm having trouble finding some decernt templates though.. and I can't install the ones I do have.

Def on the right track.

It is, and I've turned off a lot of features.. I've sussed out how it all works but need a decent template before I continue..

I've been searching all morning for a dark one that I can upload.. :(

I have a few questions... In the following CSS

I take it your using Joomla v 1.5.x ?

Where is the blue banner ?

In terms of font size, if you goto Extensions > Template Manager > Edit Theme there should be an option in most Joomla 1.5 templates to change the font size from the control panel without having to manually chop the code. However most of the code that drives the template will be in template.css
