Does anyone think there are too many games out this xmas? It's getting impossible to buy even the ones I REALLY want, it's so annoying.
I've put a list up of the 'Twelve Games Of Xmas' up on my blog for anyone who is having a hard time deciding what to get? It's a little bit of blog pimpage sure, but it's also what I rate as the must haves this Christmas and hopefully it will help you decide which to get and which to drop. Or at least, that's the aim.
I'd also be interested in seeing how you would rate the games this xmas?
I've also noticed my blog post paints a bit of a bleak future for the Nintendo Wii...

It was the same last year though, and it worked I think. Couple of decent games were lost in the storm a bit but for the most part I enjoyed the pace of it, we were swimming in grade A stuff and I'm looking forward to it again :)
Enjoy it while it lasts tbh!

There isn't much on the horizon after Christmas apart from RE5. Come new year we'll be able to pick up these games rather cheaply ;)
This has been the case for many years on who has the big blockbusters on the Xmas shelves. Personally I don't see much wrong with it.
* You get the console providers trying to bundle their triple AAA Titles with their consoles this time of year to force up hardware sales.
* Traditionally summer months is very poor here and the other side of the Atlantic for game sales regardless of the marketing activity.
* Good news for us gamers as it means in the new year you can expect to see the prices of the Xmas titles take a tumble or be even cheaper on trade in.
The only disadvantage to this is for a couple of games you would play that are multiplayer. A few years ago there was quite a few multiplayer games all come out late November along with some cracking mods that had been in development as well. Enemy Territory Quake Wars was being pimped for it's online capabilities(PC Version) but sales suffered as it was competing against other online shooters at the time.

It's undoubtedly good, I'd rather only have AAA games, but I've never known so many at once. I can't really remember any from Xmas last year, let alone classing last years as being comparative.
Last year we had The Darkness and BioShock which were awesome games, but they both came in the Summer. This is the first Xmas where you have so many games which could win Game of the Year. Many in other years would be definite winners.
Oh I dont know.
Bioshock
Halo 3
Mass Effect
Rock Band (well, if you were a yank)
CoD4
GH:III
Assassin's Creed
Just off the top of my head.

I'll give you CoD4 and Assassins Creed. The Orange Box was mainly a collection as Episode 1 and HL2 had already been released, it was more of a major release on PC than consoles.
BioShock and Halo3 were released before the October Xmas push, none of these in that list have been. Which is what I was getting at.
Add Eternal Sonata and PGR4.
Eternal Sonata was quite pants though... /wave at Haly ;)
But I do give you this Christmas is totally insane and superior to 07.
Good list though I would have included Prince of Persia.
LBP # 1? I remember when you still weren't that sold on it...

Just the right number out tbh :)
Too many for me to buy so get them cheap after xmas but enough games that in theory their should be something for everyone :D
Didn't I say that to you earlier? ;D

*shakes fist* No it wasn't :p
This year feels bigger to me than last year, just seem to be more games I want than last year. Or at least more games that I've got caught up in the hype for :D

I was always interested, but I wasn't sold. It was an ambitious project and I was interested in knowing what it was going to offer that hadn't been seen before - the co-op sells it for me. It would be the perfect game for you and your daughter.
It has almost limitless potential. I was torn between this or Gears of War 2, I think it's more of a joint top - but I just fancied putting a PS3 game top of the pile - it needs some love. ;D;D

I've not gotten caught up in the hype purely because I don't read enough about them to do so. If I like the look of it I buy it, so I don't think hype is the reason it looks so strong.
In the past we've had plenty of games released together, but a fair portion of those would be average-to-good games, where as the majority of these would be game of the month winners in any other month.

There can never be too many quality games out IMO. Whether I can afford them or not, having them available to buy or rent is ideal at Christmas time. I'm just lucky that I always seem to find a way to afford all the games I want this time of year (it helps having a birthday in the middle of the busiest gaming time of the year).

Yeah, I wondered at that being number 1, after playing the beta I cancelled the pre-order :p
As for Resistance 2, mehhh, I've played the beta and I'll say I'm really not that impressed with what I've seen there either.
Sounds like I'm hating on Sony which I'm not, but the two games I thought I'd definitely be buying for my barely used PS3 I won't be bothering with now so it's still limited to DVD and Blu-Ray duties.

I've not played the betas, all too often they have let me down. Seems odd to say, but I've only ever played one that was like the final game and that was EVE.
I don't think you're hating on Sony as their exclusives have let a lot of people down massively, me included.

I had to say that just in case I get hunted down by any lurking, rabid fanboys ;);D
It's a shame really as I was genuinely looking forward to those two games, maybe I'll check them out in the New Year once I've played through everything else that I'm looking forward to more.

I do feel for Sony in a way as they hype their exclusives like no one else and they keep getting beaten by 360 exclusives or in most cases, multi-format games which run better on 360.
