So who has given this a bash then (either on PC or Console). I downloaded the PC version on Thursday and gave it a good hour. This is with the caveat that I have only tried Multi Player mode. On the whole I am not really overawed by it. Graphically it looks good and gameplay wise its pretty stable. However it just didn't have a wow about it like COD4 did.

For some old school PC gamers, the best way I can describe it is feels like Battlefield Vietnam. You went the distance on 1942 and knew that BF2 was on the horizon but to fill the gap BF Vietnam was produced. Essentially nothing bad about it but nothing that you would write home about. It is a BF Vietnam or Windows ME. If it was released as an expansion or add on for COD4 for then I wouldn't mind so much but this is going to be a full retail release.

Although it's a mere 12 months since the release of COD4, COD5 was in production from Treyarch a bit longer than COD4. Out of all this years Holiday releases I really think this could be one of the potential big hitters that could bomb massively. That said if you are an achievment whore then this could just be up your street. I will give it another go tonight but I am thinking that the cancel order button is only a few clicks away

I have a code for the beta but haven't actually used it and doubt I actually will  Just haven't been drawn into this like COD4.

Uninterested, when the next Infinity Ward CoD game comes out that will be CoD4s sequel. Treyarch CoD games tend to be far inferior to others in the series.

It won't 'bomb', however it won't shift massively either. No one has expected this to be the massive hits that CoD, CoD2 and CoD4 are. However, I think it will also be a solid game.

I played the beta briefly and was a bit underwhelmed. It was like CoD4 yet still felt like it was lacking something :/
I mainly play CoD4 as friends play it, so if the friends don't play CoD5.....I don't see the point either.
Having said that with my new job, I'll probably rent it as it's free :p *won't use this line all the time honest*

I'll echo the comments here - have played the Beta for probably an hour in total and reached level 11 but it's not a patch on COD4 IMO. Looks prettier but just doesn't "feel" as good as COD4 did.

Feel compelled to buy it anyway as it'll no doubt be played a lot at LANs I attend but I can't see it replacing COD4 anytime soon, especially for the big tourneys at the likes of i-Series.

It's just the way it is now (since 2), odd numbered CoD = ****, even numbered CoD = good.
