^^ That scared the be-jaysus out of me.

It was under our stairs in the Post Office and it filled me with dread just looking at it. Turning it on made me feel cold inside, it made this horrible mechanical "Dik-dik-dik-dik" noise, unless they were testing it.

Smoke alarms. I think it might have been the moody adverts they have for them.

I had a Teddy Bear that looked like a Polar Bear, used to give me re-occurring nightmares! Wasn't actually scared of the teddy bear, just the big f**cker in my dreams that tried to eat me!

I was one of the kids hiding behind the sofa whenever the Daleks were on Dr Who. It kind of helped that I thought I was ok because as long as I was upstairs in my bedroom they couldnt get me because they couldnt climb the stairs.....needless to say the episode where they learnt to climb stairs gave me many many sleepless nights.

I also had to have my little sister sleep in my bed with me the night we went to the cinema to watch Jurassic Park because that scared the crap out of me as well.

Oh and I still cannot bear to say "Candyman" in the mirror 5 times, just in case!

I used to be scared of the toilet flushing  I used to do myself up & get as far away from the bog as I could, Then I'd pull the chain & leg it before the Monsters came an eated me all up ;D;D;D

What is it?

As far as I know its a alarm thing that sends out warning of war coming all shops had them because of a 3rd world war scare but it was left in the post office/shop that faysh's parents owned.

I could be completely wrong :p I usually am.

Afraid not! It was the noise that scared me most :o Then I had to run really quickly back to bedroom and jump on my bed, had to jump because more steps on the ground meant more chance of the monster getting me :p

They scared me a bit too, yet I could watch Gremlins, Childsplay and The Exorcist no problem :o

Oh and I still cannot bear to say "Candyman" in the mirror 5 times, just in case!

I remembered Candyman to be really good so Stan and I watched it on Holloween... it was crap! ;D

I also had a huge lion on the end of my bed that was literally twice the size of me that used to scare the life out of me when I forgot it was there ;D

I saw Gremlins when I was 3 and I was terrified of open windows at night time for YEARS... even after I forgot why it scared me to begin with!
I was also scared by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.... my dad would come up behind me and whisper "kali MA!" and I would start screeching. Nice, huh?

I was terrified of 3 things through my childhood:

1) the electric blue fly killer in the bakery.

2) after sneaking the video of Aliens from my brothers room I couldnt sleep without facing down through terror of being impregnated by a facehugger.

3) the cows from button moon sneaking into mr.spoons tent whilst he was sleeping.

I first watched Alien on a 10" Black and White portable tv I had in my room, aged about 9. I didn't sleep that night. :(

lol! I used to do that after watching Alien(s) (as much as I loved it, it scared the beejesus out of me!)

Dolls (still am petrified - bit of a phobia me thinks) Not Barbie dolls or clowns though! More china dolls and they baby dolls that look like real babies and when you sit them up their eyes open. Just thinking about it makes me all goosepimply.

Flushing the toilet at night. I always would do it being a good little girl, but I stand poised with the tip of my finger on the loo handle and my body outstretched in a running position at the door and then flush. I would then run like a loon to my bedroom and then - to stop gremlins under the bed from grabbing me - take an enormous catapulting leap a good metre or two from the bed on to it and straight under the covers. No wonder I was good at high jump and long jump at school.

From above - Gremlins. I was *terrified* of them. One time, whilst watching a tv recorded Goonies video in bed with some soup (I was poooorly), the film ended and then just as the subtitles came up the screen fuzzed and turned to the scene where Gizmo is cycling around that DIY store and a Gremlin is running round with a chainsaw. The soup went flying and I ran screaming out of my room. Mummy wasn't best pleased about the mess I made! Doh!

That's it I think. I would quite happily wonder about in the dark - in woods/cemetarys and things like that (we'd walk our dog at night) so wasn't bothered about stuff like that :)

*edit* oooh Xfiles and UFO type things used to make me stay awake all night! But... I loved them... so despite knowing I would be scared I would actively go out of my way to watch them because I found them fascinating! I am the same now with most spooky things - over active imagination (Picky gets annoyed because he's like "but you will be scared!!" and so I stomp around saying "But but but I waannnt tooo waaaaatch it! Pleeeaaase!!" ;D)

OHHHH does anyone remember that scary nature program that looked at a different animal/area each week - i.e. poisonous snakes, komodo dragon, vampire bats etc? THAT used to scare me somewhat! ARGH!!! :o
