View Full Version : Work stories.... (BBx Rant Thread)
Anyone noticed how people will normally be friendly to you once you start working in a new place and somehow manage to keep their distance during break time?;D
Also, people will laugh at any little odd thing, which normally it isn't even remotely funny! Here is an example. I was watching a colleague prepare a film - about to check for malaria in a sample - so I asked him about the specific test blah blah blah. He just busted out laughing and said "yeah". Gosh wtf, my question is something about malaria, it wasn't a joke or something to laugh at! Why the heck people do that?
I wish people will just be normal. ;D

Change your deodorant?
Change your deodorant?
;D Not that. The place will need a decontamination and lock down if it was that.;)
Just a bit odd, people are unnaturally friendly.

Must be you or the people you work with :p Most of my friends in Cambridge are people I've worked with who have become friends.
Early days I must say. I just hate the fake smiles/grin. It appears people are been forced to be professional even though they probably don't want to, hence the OTT/weird friendliness...
I hate it when someone calls you and asks how you are and you are expected to ask them back.
TBH I couldn't give a toss - cut to the chase - WHADYA WANT?! :p

I agree completely.
I always go out with people that I work with.
Took me about 3 weeks of being there before I started going out for drinks with a load of the crowd that go out locally.
After about 4 months here, I think I'd slept on the sofa around a few peoples houses and vomitted in at least 2 ;D
Speaking of work stories.....There is this cute white girl....OMG, your guys never told me red heads are sexy. The question is, should I hit it? I am a bit weary giving the fact that I find the whole artificial niceness odd.
Also, some dude I saw yesterday in the staff room looked like sidewinder.....with the long hair and porn-star like pony tail!:D

I have been invited out to a Christmas dinner, but declined lol. It will probably take me longer to make friends as I don't even drink, or see the joy of pubs tbh - one of the best medium to get to know your colleagues etc.

Declining something is a sure fire way of not getting invited again.
I go bowling/cinema/5-a-side football/go-karting with people from work :)
we quite often just go to nando's in bluewater after work for a meal and that's about it.
Christmas party is coming up on the 5th of december, that'll be a good one.
We go out maybe once or twice a month in the evenings for drinks/parties but usually they're for leaving do's or birthdays.

I don't wear my hair in a ponytail, and I would NEVER read a russel brand book.
I think a large portion of the forum find red-heads sexy as hell, and damn I agree with them :p
People at my work are great, must be you butthead ;)

Yep, I've been invited out tomorrow night but it will just be a load of guys drinking too much and talking about football. I'll be making the appropriate excuses then :)
I can't believe this.
My printers are an arse.. :/ I am trying to print some business cards and there is a problem with the quote... so he has sent me an EMAIL asking me to call him :/
Why can't HE call me instead of sending me an email.

I had an email from someone asking me to call them. I replied saying that my phone number was in my email signature.
My email didn't have a number on it, but considering we have an account with them, you would think they would have our number on the job bag/system or even google?! :/
Too much for some people... nothing to do with the fact that they are my speed dial #4 :p
OK someone at work lied to me, if you can't go to something tell me you don't want to go... dont LIE saying you are on AL then email me about something else when you are supposed to be on AL.
So ****ing rude.

If I need to contact a customer I will always email them, reason being they then can't fib about you trying to contact them.
I have learned this after being called a liar many times !
I do the email thing too (as does my boss). In our case it's not down to truthfulness - it's down to convenience. Better have an email that you can deal with at a time that suits you than get interrupted by a phone call when you're in the middle of another job and need to concentrate. Besides, my boss never knows which of three phone numbers I'll be on, so it'd be a bit hard for him to call me. ;D

Yeah, but its not like that. It needs to be sorted NOW.

Brick?
Is he square and dumpy?
I admit that a lot of the time I'll e-mail rather than call as it's more convenient for the recipient who can then reply at their leisure.
Although urgent stuff will get a phone call and a shout of "WHY THE **** IS THIS CAMERA NOT WORKING WHEN YOU SAID IT BLOODY WAS!!??" Or somesuch :p

First I'll walk and speak to them face to face, if that's not possible I'll call them if that's not possible/available then I'll e-mail them, unless of course it's the client in which case I ignore them!

Mm, Redheads :D
Sorry, what was the thread about? :o
Conversation between me and my manager just now (kinda sums up the whole day):
"Is that the person from the memory clinic?"
"I can't remember"
(NB: It wasn't...they haven't turned up...we think they've forgotten the appointment...;D)
