I have no idea what Torchwood is, I just like the coat :p

I used to wear my dads old Naval dress greatcoat when I was a teenager, best coat ever.

And it had a sword slit!

If anyone know of anywhere doing similar style long/trench coats, i'd be interested. The obvious high street places seem to want £80 upwards...

You got a Government Surplus place near you?

(Or a dad that was in the RAF, and still has a greatcoat in the back if his wardrobe?)

There's an army surplus place in town, it's pretty small though, don't know of anything bigger.

Two men kissed.

I'd like a different coat then. I've had enough trouble with men coming on to me, without dressing like a gay TV character.

Preferably long though. Not 'I'm a sad nerd who has watched the Matrix 897454 times' long though.

lol :D Must admit that I do like the look of a long coat. You've got your business look, your Matrix Neo wannabe look and um...?

Surplus stores are about the only place you'll get them cheap dude.

Used to know a dude called Lenny from Queensland who wore one of these but it was an old RAF coat rather than a designer job. He hung with me whilst over & even wore the coat whilst we waded through Trafalgar square NYE the last year the fountain was open. I'd lose the shiney buttons though & replace them with black ones, I'd also go to an Army surplus & get a Genuine one.

You big gay time travelling American badly written Angel wannabe.

I'd take Jack Harkness over Angel any day ;) :p

Edit: and I wouldn't mock you - I may try to steal it from you but wouldn't mock :)

I certainly wouldn't mock you awesome coat :) Infact one of these (http://www.surplusandadventure.com/shop/army-surplus/clothing/military-clothing/brand-new-military-wool-coat-517688.html) is quite cool. I did see a coat in an issue of mens health ages ago which was of Russian design and looked fab :)

Catch me in irc bro and I'll probably be able to help you out, my old man runs a surplus company. Lol ninja edit, I also know the guy who owns the site in the post above :D. Surplus is pretty good, in terms of quality v.s price.

Actually I've been shopping for a new coat as my current one doesn't fit me any more. I've always owned long coats, but the one I'm looking for is proving to be a pain to find!

I'll poke you when I'm back from uni benneh!

And yeah, I was thinking of Frontline Lozza!

I wouldn't care if people mocked me, I'd happily wear that sort of coat. Sadly (or perhaps it's a good thing), they don't come in my size.

I would mock you, not only for the coat but just for looking a bit emo too.

That made you feel better about your next purchase?

I have my grandfather's old RAF greatcoat...Its even seen combat in the Falklands skirmish. Wear it occasionally.

We stock long coats at work...They're a bit matrixy though.

I had a police coat when I was about 18/19/20 that I acquired. Someone gave it to me (bit of a criminal type) and he'd stolen it off a copper's back in a scuffle apparently. It's was a big coat so it must have been a big old cozzer it came off if the story is true :D

Loved that coat, unfortunately I eventually broke it.

This may come across wrong but it's meant with the utmost sincerity - I have seen countless full army/RAF winter coats in charity shops when looking for costumes/bits & bobs! and I never really see anything for more than £10 in most charity shops! :D

I certainly wouldn't pay for the pastiche high street copies when so many authentics can be found across charity and surplus shops across the country! :)

Actually I've got a few good buys from TK Maxx. When I was a student I got a full-length Pierre Cardin coat for £80 reduced from £250 (though like all these sort of price tags I take it with a pinch of salt). It served me well but I eventually relented and gave it to a local charity shop. I LOL'ed when I popped in 2 weeks later and the ****ers were wanting £100 quid for it :p

So I couldn't find anything in the army surplus shops which was quite right and ended up with this (well not actually this but it's the closest match I can find on the website) (http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_65290_733655_-1) instead...

It's lovely and warm :D
