So has anyone popped out and picked this up? It's only £27 in Asda this weekend so if anyone has some spare cash knocking about or Gamestation vouchers they can organize a price match.
I've got no spare cash :(
Although as an aside, Edge gave it 6/10 but I've not had a chance to read the full review yet as it only arrived this morning.

I have it on the PC
Online Name: Wellington
i want this, desperately. but i have no monies :(
Finished it last night and considering I was unhappy about it being another WW2 game I thoroughly enjoyed it. For me it's the hardest of the series on Veteran, extremely frustrating in places :p

Even if the MP is 1/2 as good as CoD4 it must be worth it for that alone.
Well the MP is about 1/2 as good as COD4 :)
I'll carry on playing it, if only for something a bit different but there's no way this is going to replace COD4 in the multiplayer arena.
I've also got some serious concerns about the weapon hit logic, with unmissable point-blank shots often not registering. I'm not alone in noticing this - something's very wrong here.
Got this arriving tomorrow for the 360 as I thought I'd give it a shot courtesy of Christmas money :D
Who's still playing it?
I got it for the PC and am not overly impressed. I still prefer online multiplayer shooters on the PC than console. For me and my buddies it was bought due to their being a lack of good shooters coming out. It's simply not a good enough step up from COD 4 for it to be classed as a very good game.
In terms of the gameplay, they have completely buggered up the ranking system as well online. It is possible to set up a server that will give anything from 100 to 5000 points a kill. To test the theory, I set up a second online account and managed to go from lvl 1 to lvl 65, then Prestige and 1 to 65 again whilst unlocking all the weapons within the space of 35 minutes.
That aside it does feel like a WWII shooter, the maps are bigger and are more expansive than COD4 which can only be a good thing. Again there is another annoyance in having dogs as a call in for a 5 kill streak.
For console I would recommend renting before buying. PC wait till it comes down in price

Linear and too buggy. Not good at all. AW are nuts for letting other developers ruin the franchise they have worked so hard to establish.

The thing with Call of Duty is that it's always been linear. It's one of its greatest strengths yet also one of its biggest weaknesses. I quite like linear games from time to time. There are so many open world games available nowadays that it's quite refreshing at times to be told exactly where I have to go. I can just pop my brain out and let my reactions do all the work :)
Anyway, I hope to get my review copy through in the next day or two for the 360, so I'll be playing this through the week :)

Same here :) I've only played the first level of WaW so can't comment there yet. But I do tend to like how linear they are, makes for a good experience.

It's not Infinity Ward's franchise, it's Activisions, they pay Infinity Ward to make the games, which they did make some such as CoD, CoD:UO, CoD2 and CoD4. Treyarch made CoD3 and CoD5. There are other games on PS2 such as Big Red One which I also don't believe was made by IW.
I think this all stemmed from the fact IW didn't want to make another WW2 shooter and would rather concentrate on creating a new game for CoD6, though I may be wrong.

Indeed, if I were developing CoD5 into an open world I'd hate to think I'd be going directly against Fallout 3.
I am definitely more of a fan of linear games, it allows for better story progression unless you really go the extra mile with different paths to every story (which you can't do based on real life events) in the way Bethesda Softworks do with their games.

True but it seems a bit lame now to be honest.

Lame in what respect? Do you think it should be more open world? My worry with that would be that if everyone tried it, we'd suddenly find ourselves with a market full of below average games that couldn't manage the sandbox style properly.

I really like the linear story in COD4 :D
Who's got this for the 360?
Was thinking we could do 4 player co-op :D I know Nokkon's got it and Davey will have it soon so nearly 4 already :D
