Interesting Story Here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7732290.stm) on the BBC about how Children are being written off to quickly.
Children's charity Barnardo's, which commissioned the study, said society "casually condemned" children.
It is behind an awareness campaign, with an stark internet advertisement showing adults hunting "vermin", which turn out to be children.
The advert, intended to show how society demonises young people, was launched on 17 November. A second - different - advert will be launched for TV on 24 November.
Some 54% of the adults questioned thought that British children behaved like "animals".
So are we too quick to write off children as nuicanses or problems to society. Do we engage them enough ?? This is something that I feel very strongly about as I think life can be tough enough as it is without being written off before it has even started.
I can't help but think that we should do more for the children. As in most cases of deprevation and excess education and opportunity is the key. What really annoys me is when you see school fields being sold off and nothing replacing them except more concrete eyesores(Appartments).
I accept entirely children/youths & teenagers should earn respect and they are not going to get that by terrorising the locals but by the same token there should be more for them to do. I had some first hand experience of this when I was coaching my lads team over the summer. One of the local residents writes a letter to the headteacher every month complaining because the six and seven year olds are too noisy. Her back garden backs onto the school field. So even if it's an organised event with adults supervising, people still dont want to help children and give them some opportunity.
Whats your thoughts on it
