The situation in the DRC (Congo) remains on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe. The priority at the moment is reinforcing the capacity of the UN’s peacekeeping force, MONUC, to protect civilians and to ensure people have access to humanitarian assistance. The recent fighting displaced at least 250,000 civilians, most of them women and children. These people are in a desperate situation, without sufficient food, water, medical supplies or shelter.

I have added my name. Without being too much of a stick in the mud but I do wonder how effective these online petitions and are. More to the point do our entrusted leaders actually listen. Britain has recently seemed to side with the Chinese on the issue of Tibet which is massively dissapointing.

That said something has to be done about the crisis in DRC. This potentially could end up on scale with the genocide in Rwanda. What can we do other than voice our disapproval of these despotic regimes.

Signed, no idea if it'll help but it certainly won't help if I don't do it :)
