Thinking of starting a blog

I love rambling on about random stuff, so thought a blog would be a good idea.

I'll most likely stick to WordPress on my server, and stick it on blog.blighter.net

So what sort of stuff do you put on a blog, what do you like to see etc?
I'm thinking a theme similar to Haly's (hay-lee ;D) blog as it's nice and basic :)

Which theme is it you like? The reviews one (http://www.halycopter.com/reviews/ ) is Limau Orange (http://www.blogohblog.com/wordpress-theme-limau-orange/). It's been slightly modified but I can't remember what I did to it now ;D

The regular blog is Carrington (http://carringtontheme.com/). That's completely vanilla as I haven't got round to doing anything with it yet.

The reviews site is used as a portfolio of my reviews so I have a centralised place to put them all.

Regular one's just used for rambles and general crap :D

Main thing blogs need imo is interesting and regular entries, that's what keeps me reading blogs.

The skin used for the reviews part used to be the skin for the main site too. I only recently divided up the two sections of the site as the reviews section was getting far too big and I wanted to give its own blog really.
Initially I was going to use Joomla but it seemed a bit excessive for my needs.

Yea, having played with a lot of CMS's, WordPress is by far the best in my opinion. I also use it on http://www.more-outdoors.co.uk (editing that theme took me FOREVER :( ;D)

I need a new theme - mine annoys me.

Sadly when I've got a new theme I don't know how to edit it without breaking stuff :(

Spent ages modifying mine too (http://www.nokkonwud.com), changing heights, widths, colours and settings. Can be a real pita, but it's worth it as I have a place to just post stuff on.

Haly, I've just noticed the way that your blog's comments seem to load in AJAX style (i.e. without refreshing the page). Do you know if that's a plug-in or whether it's part if the theme as I'm in love with it!!!!! ;D

Wordpress is awesome...developing a couple of sites with it at the moment and aside from some slightly odd strangeness and weird code, it's very good. Glad to see Halycopter being used still too :D

Get Google Analytics on it!

You'll see what keywords are producing leads to your blog, and you can capitalise on these to get more readers as well as regular ones. :)
