Power cable

Bought a printer t'other day and having opened it, it's got a Euro power cable.

One end is a C7 Connector and the other is a Europlug

If I can find another cable with a C7 end, with a proper UK plug, is it safe to just use that?

Yeah in most cases as long as the electronics are designed for 240 50/60 which i guess they are since almost everything is now days. Also if you're not going to unplug in, its a bit ghetto but open the plug with a ground pin (upside down 3 pin plug, scissors whatever its not live) and just push (quite hard) the two pin in, it'll fit and it'll work just fine

I did this with my reserator for yeeears and if you're not gonna unplug things all the time its easy and fine

I'd be kinda shocked if something that came bundled with a europlug wouldn't work on 230v!

I always keep a few of those in the house as they're handy for this very reason. Might find them cheaper than that elsewhere.

The old printers lead looked the same so I just used that. It hasn't exploded yet.

What doesn't work though, is the USB, oddly. Windows just point blank refuses to acknowledge its existence.

Rebooted the PC? One of my PCs regularly gets into conditions where it won't acknowledge anything plugged in via USB. Only a reboot sorts it.

Failing that, find another cable (the old printer?), or another PC.

PC has been rebooted several times and the USB cable is the one that was functioning perfectly 30 minutes beforehand with the old printer.

Can't figure it out. Don't even get the little jingle to indicate something has been plugged in.

I've given up on it for now, will sort it tomorrow.
