newsgroup providers

Hi all

I'm toying with the idea of switching to newsgroups for a load of my stuff for the speed aspect. I'm considering going with giganews on their unlimited package for $24.99/m but they also offer encrypted traffic for an extra $5.

What providers are other people using, do you recommend anyone?

I've always used easynews. $10 a month for 10gig. Pretty sure all unused still rolls over to the next month too. I love their web search, par viewers and virtual zip files.

Encrypted is useful for those providers who still packet shape unencrypted P2P but don't touch encrypted. That number is getting smaller though (it was only ever going to be a stopgap).

Unfortunately, by it's very nature, when they start shaping encrypted P2P, they pretty much manage to shape all encrypted data (though at least in my case the first few GB gets through unscathed).

Mmm, seems easynews have changed again

You now get 20gig a month but it doesn't rollover.

Thanks lads i'll take a look.

I htought that was the reasoning behind encrypted connections. At the moment Telewest doesn't seem to throttle anything \o/ Its just all the ADSL providers are throttling at the mo.
