Combining bits from different DVDs to make one.

I have a couple of commercial DVDs and I want to combine bits from each to make another disc.

Basically I have the original Star Trek DVD with Trouble with Tribbles and the DS9 DVD with Trials and Tribblations.

I can rip them both to my drive so there's no copy protection (DVD Decryptor ftw).

But does anyone know how I can pull the episodes I want from each one to be able to combine them to make a custom DVD with them both on?

On a related topic, I would like to join all of the LOTR films (extended versions) together to make one (bloody) long film.

At the moment, I rip films to my HDD as ISO images (using the same software as Feek) and then mount them as virtual drives with Alcohol 120% to watch them.

Anybody have any idea how I might go about this?

Bigstan - www.videolan.org download the VLC player, and you can queue up your ISO files to play in VLC.

only problem is you'll still encounter menus

both of you, get your pretty little tushies over to www.dvd-guides.com and check out their guides. i know how to do what both of you want on Mac, but not on PC.

Feek, i think yours will involve ripping and encoding your individual episodes as high quality mpeg/divx/avi and recoding/burning them to a DVD using something like WinAvi.

another option would be to find the VOB/IFO files that relate to the episodes you want, ripping them from the DVD, creating your own mini-menu (Roxio can do this) and burning all your files from there.

I used a piece of software called DVDx (I think) to rip DVDs straight to DivX (or XviD). If you are lucky, you will be able to load these .avi files into Adobe Premier and link them all together, cutting out annoyances such as credits etc on a frame-by frame basis.

It is fairly intuitive though you will need a fairly high spec rig to be able to do it!
