Default V+

Spoke to Virgin yesterday as I'd used my parents Sky+ at the weekend and it seemed really handy and I wondered how much it would cost. I was surprised to find out that its only £75 with no on going costs every month, its down from £150 at the moment and the nice thing is unlike Sky, if it goes wrong then they replace it as it remains their property

I really don't know, I just assumed it would and have never asked before. The other reason I asked for one is because the DVD recorder we have went a bit dodgy recently and I'd like to be able to connect to the TV by HDMI which V+ also has.

Apparently I'll be able to watch one programme and record 2 others and also view the HD channels, (yes I know there aren't many) all on our current subscription.

We have XL BB, XL TV and M Phone I think which costs about £50/ month

We're having serious issues with our V+ box at the moment, so when it works it's great but when it messes up you tend to lose all your content. Around 30 hours of stuff on ours simply says "Recovered Content" the only way we know what it is is if we watch the recording.

Yeah you can Had a few oddities where it's said something is clashing when it's not, but nothing major.
I only tend to watch BBC HD (and then only really for Torchwood) but I guess it's nice it's there!

Sky+ goes one better - I've got some fairly old recordings still on mine and just occasionally it'll wipe out the name and description of a recorded programme and replace it with the name and description of a random completely different programme.

We have V+ at home and I love it. TV on demand is more what I like to watch than the crap-o-rama on Sky 1. The other thing going for it is that Virgin are looking to upgrade their entire range of V+ boxes starting the back end of this year.

I don't understand the full technical stuff but from reading snipets on Digitalspy and Cableforum over the course of the last few months, the technology in the V+ boxes is quite a few years old and was bought on the cheap from some small cable provider in Texas. However the new technology for encoding video and audio will be far superior to that of Sky TV. This will also enable an even wider choice via On Demand. This of course means a free upgrade once they ar ready to roll out

Worth shopping for a deal with them as well. We have V+, XL TV, 2nd STB, Unlimited Telephone and 20mb Broadband for £65.00 a month
