Decent SDHC cards?

What's the current 'best plan' with SDHC cards for photography use? I'm after decent speed and reliability but preferably without emptying my bank account.

Probably looking at 4GB or 8GB. I don't want to get silly big as putting my trust in something that big is doomed to end up with a dead card.

PS - I've checked - all (3) of the devices I intend to use with them are SDHC-capable up to at least 16GB.
