Default Heartbroken

I lad I went to high school with and spent hell of a lot of time with at school was killed in Afghanistan over Christmas, I never got back in touch with him when we left but I was just dumbfounded when I heard, I knew he had joined the Royal Marines and he always wanted to.

I have set up a facebook group and its already full of people he served

Corporal Elms was killed in action by an explosion on 31 December 2008 in Southern Helmand on operations with Zulu Company, 45 Commando Royal Marines. The Company was conducting a local area patrol alongside Afghan National Army troops in order to reassure the local population.

Corporal Liam Elms Royal Marines

Corporal Elms or 'Elmsy' as he was known was born on 28 October 1982 in Wigan. He joined the Royal Marines on 7th May 2001. After completing training at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM) at Lympstone in Devon, he served with 42 Commando Royal Marines for 2 years.
It never rains but pours, I really am waiting for some a bit of good luck.

My life has been really put into prospective and that I am wasting everyday.

I read about him in the papers a couple of days ago. He seemed like a genuinely lovely guy.
Really sorry for your loss

Really sorry to hear that mate, its awful when someone young dies. About 6 weeks ago my wifes cousin's wife died, she was just 35 and had cancer. Although she had fought it for years, it still came as a shock when it happened. It makes you value the things you have, the people you are friends with and what you are doing with life.

It's awful to hear.

Two people I went to school with have died although not in the forces and it hits you like a train that peopleyou knew and kicked about with years ago have died before their time.

It does make you stop and reassess things. Well done for helping to keep his memory Cheets. One of the lads I went to school with was killed in a friendly fire incident in the first Gulf War. He was only 18 and it was quite a shock.

RIP Liam Elms.
