Where to find spare bulbs?
So the map light in my almera hasn't worked for donkey's years. But since i've actually sorted out every other little niggling problem with the car recently its all thats left and its bugging the hell out of me now
The bulb is clearly blown (its smokey black ) so its not fuse related, i took the bulb to a little auto electrician locally and he laughed at me and asked if i'd taken it out a torch Apparently he's never ever seen this type of bulb as an interior light to a car ever, he looked my car up in his big index book and it just had a space under interior (or map i forget) lights which really isn't any help. The light itself doesn't have any name or serial on it and obviously search for something generic like "map light" or "interior light" even with alerma on ebay or google is obviously giving me a lot of garbage. So where do i go from here? Pictures can be taken if anyone wishes, but it doesn't really seem very out of the ordinary to me? |

Well i thought that, the nearest one is actually a trek out to, so i don't intend to go anytime soon. Surely if a dedicated autoelectirican nearby is calling a blank how can i rely on halfrauds? He does have thousands of bulbs in the shop you can see all sorts there, one would think he'd have it, thats whats got me confused. It's not like i've ever had a problem grabing spares for the rest of the car without halfords help...

I'd give Nissan a call and see if they can give you a part number

I got my dashboard bulbs straight from VW as they're so old and obscure, I'd never get them anywhere else.

Highly unlikely they'd commision a bulb just for that purpose.

Or look for a service manual online. There seem to be a few of them about. Whether you can make any sense out of them is another matter.

How about a trip to the scrappy? Nothing like removing bits from a car stacked two up (at the time I was removing bits of trim from a Polo GT, which was moving a touch on whatever was underneath)

Heres a pic with a penny and with the only writing (LIFE) on the bulb, doesn't really help that much i'd think... But as you say nutcase i can't imagine it is rare, but its the fact the guy basically laughed at me
Gonna get in touch with Nissan when i actually get a chance soon, not really top of my priority list mind. |
