Default The Beatles - What genre?

I'm sorting out my music and I have The Beatles flagged with two different genres.

British Invasion
60's Psychedelic Pop-Rock

Which would you go with, or suggest another?

I'd say more the former than the latter. Not all Beatles stuff was psychadelic... and not quite all 60s either! Frankly I'd put it just under Rock/Pop.

What Belmit said! Before opening the thread I said out aloud "Surely Pop Rock?"

Rock/Pop is too generic, I hate that tag. If I used it, it'd account for 90% of my music library.

This is why I don't bother genre-ising any of my music. They're either too general, too specific, or overlap too much.

Genre is nice to have but i gave up long ago when i realised i could just use searches linked with last.fm over my music collection works better than any genre you could give yourself

I did experiment with a script for iTunes which queried every track against last.fm and configured the genre depending on what was returned but I found that didn't work very well. I'm now using Tune Upp which is is doing a really good job of sorting out the library including genre tagging. It's only occasionally that it makes mistakes.
