The Greenock Cut

Decided I'm going to start GPS Tracking my walks/hikes and use my Phone's built-in Geotagging feature to store my photos on the way.

Did the Greenock Cut walk (Designated an Ancient Monument in 1972). It's about 7.2miles in length and relatively flat. The Greenock Cut is a 6.5km aqueduct that carried water from Loch Thom to the town of Greenock to provide people with drinking water as well as power for the industries. It was built by Robert Thom in 1825-27 and is now a designated ancient monument. The Cut did have 23 bridges, some of which have been restored, plus sluices and bothies along it's length. It also provides access onto Dunrod Hill (298m).

I'll be posting my trips as I do them. Got some Munros planned in the near future as the weather gets better!

Oh and I'm using a Garmin eTrex which I nicked from work (It's not accurate enough to use for work), accurate to about 7m~ depending on Sat view. My mobile is a Sammy Tocco Ultra with 8mp Camera and built-in GPS

Nicely done mate. Took up hill climbing again just before Xmas in amoungst bad weather typically but absolutely loved it. I hadn't done it in years, so i was a bit knackered by it all. Me and a couple of mates climbed Ben Lomond a couple of times and a couple of walks up and around the Campsie's (not exactly sure where).

We're talking about Ben Arthur (The Cobbler) next or maybe just Ben Lomond again. Just in time for the better weather. Although you'd never know it was coming by todays wind and rain.

I swear we'll add some variety to it eventually. Might upload some pics some time

Ben Venue is a good one mate, relatively short at 725m but a good day out (Bout 6hours).

Ben A'an is also good but it's more a blip than a mountain!

Ben Lomond's a good walk although my girlfriend got a bit knackered near the top. We also came down the hill knackered to find a flat tyre on the car!
