I would just like to change the name that appears when the Laptop searches for available networks.
Perhaps my router is too basic for any thing like this ! ! !

You need to log into the router and change the SSID. This is normally done through a web interface and you normally need to know the IP address of the router. Pretty easy to find as it will be the address of your computer but with the last number changed to 1.
e.g. 192.168.1.13 becomes 192.168.1.1 so you would type http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar. You will also need the username/password. If you have not set these up yourself google for the default password. |

Also if you are googling for help I think you may have the wrong model, Thomson codes are normally 2 letters followed by 3 numbers. Double check and let us know if it is dsl or cable?

my ISP is Pipex.
I am thinking of changing to O2, as I am a O2 customer with my mobile. O2 can do 8MB unlimited for apz £7.50 per month !

Good move. You'll get a new Thomson router from O2 if you do that.
As for the original question, no such router exists, so as above I suspect you've read the serial number instead of the model number or something similar. |
