See here:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/48728...ok-z530-1-6gh/ TV tuner, bluetooth, 1.6Ghz 1Gb high res screen (comparably in the netbook market) webcam etc.. etc... Basically i need something with the internet right now thats cheap as chips, seems this couldn't come at a better time, right? |

1GB is plenty if you aren't going to run Windows (Windows 7 possibly excepted, not tried it on a netbook)

You might get away with a skeleton install of XP and keep it light, but no chance with Vista.

7 Runs lovely on a netbook with 1GB RAM, it'll quite happily run on 512MB RAM aswell though hardly any netbooks come with 512MB any more anyway.

I run 7 on a 1GB laptop and it runs a lot nicer than Vista used.

It comes with XP SP3, i'd still rather more memory but i know its not the end of the world It'll probabbly have Ubuntu netbook remix, or maybe mobiln thrown on it, as well as a dual boot for XP SP3 (or 7) to keep me sane. Feel quite happy about that deal, i've been borrowing laptops for ages now, and i thin holding out months without my own was long enough before i cracked seeing that little netbook on HUKD.
Its not laptop replacement, but it fills a void and i can sell on later if i see some second hand bargain or something come up i can afford |

We already have Ubuntu and Ubuntu Netbook remix and Moblin. Why then, has someone decided we need yet another one and just combined two existing ones into Ubuntu Moblin? It's needlessly confusing IMO and bar a few hardcore Linux geeks, if they've used the same GUI as Moblin, I doubt most people would even tell the difference.
