Binning PCs? Got any knocking about that you arent using?
Donate them to me!
Well, not actually me but the uni radio station. I am part of the engineering team for them and the server room is full of really, really old (and I do mean ancient) PCs running as servers. The fastest one (aside from the fileserver, which is a reasonable spec) is a P2 400! These are really getting quite long in the tooth now (its getting to the stage where custom kernels have had to be written to minimise the load to get things to run!) and could do with an upgrade. I am looking to buy some old stuff from asset management companies etc but any donations at all would be great! |

I'll have a look around the office when I'm in next week and see what I can find.

I have a load of bits at home that I was going to sort through and get rid of most of it. If you want, I can put it all in a box and send it down.
Dunno what'll be in it or how much use it would be but you're welcome to it if you can find a use for it. Stan

I have all this stuff left over from a for sale thread. Your welcome to have it all if you want it for free but will have to collect / pay for postage on the heavy items:
CoolerCase Storm with 2x 80mm and 2x 120mm Y.S.Tech fans, baybus power Controller thingy included, switches case fans from 12v to 7v, CPU header on baybus is a bit dodgy as it switches from 12v to off instead of 12v to 7v, have added dust catching grill to side fan but still have old grill if wanted, 2 front blanking plates lost although im still looking (pic 1, pic 2) Macron MPT 400P PSU (pic) Diamond SupraExpress External 56k Modem HP C1823 Cartridge (i think it's colour) 3 x Random 10/100 Network Cards Creative Labs Soundblaster 128 (i think) CT4750 Vantec Stealth 60mm - still in box Y.S.Tech CPU Fan (FD1260257B-2A) 2 x 80mm - 1 Y.S.Tech, 1 unused Evercool

I have no idea, it would only be 1 box though as it can all be inside the empty computer case. I'll try and get a rough weight for you tomorrow some time.

Just so DRZ knows, the baybus is installed in the blanking plate, if it is removed there would be none left and 3 cd drive sized holes in the front.
