Default Restore To A Backup

Today I ran an 'update all' on Rock. it tried to update something which threw up an error referring to the firmware. this evening I rebooted due to a no signal issue and my phone wouldn't boot.

After too long watching pwnage tool tell me i've got the wrong version of the firmware I just threw on the latest version through iTunes but I've lost all my numbers as they weren't synced with Google.

How do I put on last months backup? *wish i'd backed up more often!*

Does it not give you a list of available backups to restore from? Check the device tab under prefs and you can see a list of backups there so make sure you have more than one.

And then make sure you sync to google Made my last restore so much easier.

What on earth is Rock, and which update to I need to stay away from to avoid bricking my phone? (assuming it still reboots anyway)

As Desmo says, you should be able to restore in iTunes (I can't remember the exact details, but I've done it before and it was easy). You can even jailbreak again (though not unlock) afterwards, thanks to Spirit.

Rock is another app like Cydia and does pretty much the same thing. No idea what the update was called though.

Mine is set to restore back to 3.1.2 so had no worries regarding the jailbreak. All up and running again now

The problem update was called sys-cmds or something from what I remember.

I've gotta head into uni for a bit but I'll try it later. When I tried last night it didn't offer backups. Before wanting to download 3.1.3

Sounds like plenty of people have hit this problem from what I've been reading. I should have backed up before trying the re-boot really. Luckily my last backup was on Thursday anyway so nothing really lost.
