For those that don 't visit Oc.
![]() My Winter Hack/Retro Rice mincer ![]() 1987 on an E, Honda NS125FG, 11k up it but it's probably had more rebuilds than Liza Minellis face. Guy before put new head/barrel/piston/little end bearing/new chain & sprockets/tyre/some cables/bulbs for the MOT in June & did 150 miles on it, I've done 60 miles on it this afternoon. ![]() It's a right little screamer although I am running it in at the mo so I've not thrashed the knackers off it yet, Handles brilliantly through the twistys & hasn't got a single piece of chrome on it anywhere so Perfect as my winter hack. ![]() Starts first kick, runs mint & handles brilliantly & all for the princely sum of 620 of my English pounds & it cost me 50 to collect it for van & derv so it stands me in 670 quids. ![]() |

Just in case anybodys interested.
![]() I blew my 2 stroke up a few days ago, I'd done 173 miles in 2 days & was giving it some licks when it nipped up. ![]() ![]() ![]() I rang a few mates with vans, nobody was about so I rang RAC & told them I was on my bike, Dude turned up in a mini Transit, We messed for ten minutes & then he told me he had to go & get the trailer & he'll be back in 75 minutes  **** that I said & started to push it home, Cut a long story short it took me about an hour & fifty minutes of hard slog to get home. ![]() Next day it was a strip down to see what's what, Rings had done one & the top of the piston is messy, Hands up it's all my fault for not checking the mixture properly before I started to rattle it. I had a new front tyre stuck on & just wanted to do my 20 mile scrub in before the rains started, Once out I got carried away & killed it. ![]() When I bought the bike I got a new piston/rings/barrel with it so tracked down a head & a gasket set & set about the rebuild yesterday/today. It's all back together now & put together by me & I've been out on 2 small runs just to break the rings in, Starts first kick & sounds mint. ![]() All the fun of a 2 stroke but I've set the oil pump myself now & I'm confident in my rebuild so hope fully that should be it for now & I can get on with enjoying the power band. ![]() |

I did sort of the same thing with my first Jeep. Destroyed over $1000 in parts and Lord alone knows how many hours of work in two days.

I DID IT AGAIN.
![]() I blew my 2 stroke up again yesterday + I wasn't to fussed as the rebuild only cost me time & about 30 quid. I started off running it in but once i got to 50 miles or so I got carried away, It went bang at 72 miles I went to Nottingham today to pick up the last of my trick bits for it's Uber rebuild, Started at 2.30pm finished at 6pm so I could clean up & walk the Mutt, All I have to do in the morning is sort the fluids out & then go riding. The reason it blew up is through a dodgey oil pump I reckon as I'd even cranked it up a bit after the last blow up. This time I'll take no chances with the poxy autolube as I'm ripping it out & mixing it myself in the back yard & putting it in the tank ready mixed. The blow ups not fazed me as I intended rebuilding it back to how it was when I got it as it flys for a 1T. Great thing about this blow up was it happened in my street & kept running until I pulled into my jitty so no long push home this time. |

I'd let the double decker buses out run you for a while once you get it going again.
Let the kids on the 50cc scooters have the light for a week, then show them how it's done after that!! ![]()

Wise words Darrin that I followed to the letter whilst out today, Finished it off first thing then went & got some measured petrol to do my mixes, Started it up & ran it for 5 mins, checked for leaks & let it cool down properly, Then I went down the road & back, Maybe 5 miles then let it cool down properly, Then I went on a 25 run & came back home to check all my fluids etc.
All seemed well so I went out for another 25 miles, I resisted the urge & will till I put at least 500 miles on it. Glad it's all done now though. (Fingers & Toes crossed for the next thousand miles I spose ![]() |

**** me this bike has tested my patients, I finally got it all back together with it's trick bits on & was out on a run about 8 miles away from home when it wouldn't come out of 1st.
![]() ![]() Anyways, Long story short a selector rod had broke (old age or abuse) Total strip down though, Clutch/Basket & bollocks all gutted out of it to get to the broken rod, All done now. So I went out & did 60 odd miles (mileage at about 500 now since top end rebuild) today & actually made it back home ![]() I have to say for a 1T it goes like stink, the power band is great & I love the way it screams. ![]() On a side note I need a new coolant hose from barrel to water pump as it has a tiny split in it, a little right angle piece of pipe about 5 - 6 inches long, Of course it's discontinued though & can't be bodged using other pipe as straight rubber pipe doesn't bend without kinking. ![]() I have cut the pipe down & managed to fit it & it's sealed but fortunately I found one on fleabay & after some help from my mate Desmo it's winging it's way to me via Snail mail. Thanks Mate. ![]() I have located another complete engine that I am going to buy as it's only 80 quid, This way I can have a spare lump ready built up to drop in when & if summit else goes wrong. I can also fettle the arse off it whilst it's in my house. ![]() No surprise I know my way round these little lumps quite well now. ![]() ![]() |

I've ordered an uprated set of jets for the carb via the Dellorto website which will enrichen the mixture, I'm jetting it safe as they say as I really could do without another rebuild so soon after recent work.
I think today I'm going to whip off the tank & a few bits & bobs & fill/prep/spray them up as they've taken a few knocks with all the recent on & offs. This needs doing but also has the added bonus of disabling the bike to take away the temptation of going out getting carried away & blowing it up again. I know it's running sweet now so I just need to wait for my new jets & then fingers crossed I'll be able to enjoy it for a few months without another rebuild. |
