Mouse reccomendations

Anyone got a mouse they'd reccomend? Mine, a Logitech Dual Optical, is about coming to the end of its life. The pads are all worn away, including the ones on the side which is noticeably reducing the comfort of it.
Looking at a few sites there are the usual bewildering array of models out there all claiming this that and the other benefit.

What mice have folks got and like? I'm not too fussed whether its wireless or wired really, only requirement is that it must be able to be plugged into a PS/2 port, be it USB into an adaptor like my current one, or direct. Otherwise it won't work with my KVM

Still use my Logitech MX700 at home, best mouse I've ever owned but I dont think they sell it any more. At work I have a corded MX518 which is also very comfortable to use.

I've got a Logitech MX510. Great mouse

Wired and can plug into a PS/2 port np with the USB adaptor.

It moulds into my hand well, but that does mean it's only really suitable for right handed people.

Definitely try to have a feel of various mice, I know I hate using mice that i'm uncomfortable with.

I've got a couple of Logitech G5's. Nice mouse to use but they screwed up the design a bit with only putting a single thumb button in it.

I have one as well, the single thumb button doesn't bother me as I only used one anyway. It's a nice mouse but whether it works through a PS/2 port, I don't know.

I got very used to using the thumb buttons in games for switching to pre-defined weapons.

It works fine on PS/2 - I'm using one right now plugged into my PS/2 KVM.

Big fan of the Logitech MX1000 myself.

Yet to try the new models though.

Current mouse is my Beloved MX1000 and my spare and previous mouse is a MX510.
The MX1000 can be had cheap these days and is a Superb mouse in every way.
Chordless with No lag, very responsive, lovely shape, extra buttons for FPS assignement = Pwnage. It just roxs to be honest.

well not exactly a mouse but my chosen pointer is one of these babies. Never have to worry about flat or clean surfaces

Trackballs are Gay

All that limp wristed flicking business.

Used to have Major funny arguments with an old clan member on COD that used one of these. Basically he is a big Gayer coz he uses one

Our argument was purely based on the fact that if ever at lans we could chuck our mouses at his head but his was stuck to his system.
Head damage FTW ob(
