Default What LCD TV?

Toshiba 32WLT66
LG 32LX2R
(and where to buy from? The linked site seems the cheapest.)

The Toshiba has built in freeview, but is a little more expensive (about the same amount more than the LG as a freeview box) and has good picture reviews.

The LG is cheaper, no built in freeview (but then we got cable anyway) and has 600 cd/m2, 100 more than the Toshiba...

Can anyone tell us if either is a big yes or a big no, or a better one?

I dont think we can buy for a while yet, but I need to keep an eye on the market and how it progresses.

Yeah I need someone to spec me a tv too...

Looks like its only flat screens about at the moment.. doh.

I would prefer HD ready (might aswell) and integrated Freeview, but tbh I may wait to see what happens after Christmas in the sales

Well. I have the 37" version of the Toshiba and it's ace. I couldn't tell you how it compares with the LG.

Incidentally. I obviously bought mine just a little too early. The 42" version of the Tosh on that website is less than I paid for my 37" - should've waited a couple of months

I'd go for the better quality one and worry about freeview later - freeview boxes are easy to come by anyway. Toshiba IMO make better screens that LG (though LG aren't bad). If you can stretch to a Panasonic or a Philips I personally think they are 2 of the best brands you can make (we install them on most of the yachts) though much to my surprise I have found the quality of Pioneer screens rather impressive.

I have it! I'm not sure how big it is, but it's big enough. It is fantabulous, but I have noticed the darkness issue, but only with 'aquired' films that may not be all that great quality anyway. I'd highly recommend it! Sadly my ex has said its the one thing he wants out of the whole house, so I might lose custody Why couldnt he have wanted one of the kids?!?!?!

The number one recommended screen for the xbox 360 always seems to be the samsung, supposed to be a very good screen

I seem to remember the LG also being very highly rated, not sure about the tosh though

(/useless )

IMO contrast is more important than brightness, but I know nothing about console games and what their outputs are like.

Personally and from experience and visually impressive-ness, a (Panasonic) Plasma still kicks the butt of LCD IMO. LCD is still not good enough for to be labelled high end and I will fight till the death to anyone who disagrees . But bear in mind I play about on people's yachts that can afford the best of the best. However the Panasonic TH-37PX600PED is really fantastic and HD ready. Ok it's a 37" but it's one of the best plasmas I've ever seen and it destroys ANY LCD IMO. It's the depth of colour and clarity as well as brightness and contrast ratio (plasma's display black better) that bought it for me. They also have usually a better viewing angle too.
