Default How long do points last?

i was driving so well about 2 months after my test that a sneaky police officer decided that i should get some points. 3, to be precise. not for speeding. how long do they last?

i was having a chat with a mate, and he seemed to think that they last for 2 years, which i thought didn't sound right. on most insurance quotes, you have to mention any in the last 5 years, so i guess that's the important bit!

And why do the Police never stop you and say 'the way you took that roundabout was totally wicked, well done' and then check your licence and take off points for good driving.

Bear in mind that insurance companies usually ask if you've had any convictions or points in the last 5 years.

If you total over 12 (I think) points you are instantly disqualifed, thats totting.
