Default Car Insurance

Anyone heard of or used Masterquote?

They have quoted me £100 less than my renewal from Elephant which is pretty amazing, only £420 for the year and with only a small premium for monthly payments , thats with my NCB protected too

Sainsburys come pretty close (£480) and a bit better known.

Anyone got any tips?

Other than haggling a bit (always haggle!), privilege and admiral have been good to me in the past.

I got a quote from Masterquote back in 2004 and it was the best I'd got so I paid for the policy and thought that was the end of it.

A few hours before my policy with Zurich was due to run out, Masterquote called to say that they were very sorry but that they couldn't cover me because the car had been re-mapped. That left me with about 3 hours to get a policy up and running. Bastards.

Ring the cheapest one, tell them that you want to go with them because of a recommendation but you are a little more expnsive than xyz insurer ( make the figure 10-20% cheaper ) they will almost certainly reduce their price

Bell Direct for me. I insure the MR2 and A4 collectively for just over £700 fully comp.

Privilege were the best for me.
my insurance is £420 FC, and that was with the prodrive as well!

When I was phoning around for quotes, the best I could get was nearly £800! And that was with 'specialist' insurers that deal with Jap performance and imports etc..

I'm with the Post Office at the moment, got a quote off £350 FC my 1.2l clio and a year of having a license and no claims.
Got £50 back too as they had an offer on at the time.

Last year I was with Tescos and they quoted me £550 which as a brand new driver seemed pretty good, but they couldn't beat the Post Office this year.
