Sony can stick it's PS3 up it's ****
I don't know how reliable this article is but if it's true, I will certainly not be shelling out my hard earned cash for an inferior console at a premium price.
http://www.trustedreviews.com/gaming...-PS2-Titles/p1 Nor will I be buying any Sony products in future if this is the way they think they can treat their European customers. Sony press release Rather suspicious paragraph: Quote:
It's not the fact that the console will have limited backwards compatibility with titles from previous consoles - it's the fact that it's only the European version which will be limited. **** off Sony Stan

I think I might be changing my camera choice, if I can find something better that is (I don't 'do' brand loyalty - I get what's best for me).
PS3 was never an option in this household. Definitely not now. |

They seem to be making a few mistakes with the PS3 imo, even my Dad who knows nothing of consoles mentioned he'd heard something on the news about how there were issues. Not good advertising for them at all.
Backwards compatibility isn't a huge factor for me but it's more the principle of it that I don't like the sound of. Either way, I'm sure it'll still sell loads. Too many people with brand loyalty and fanboys to help Sony out.

Anything with the Playstation logo would sell, even if it was an empty box. That's the problem with fanboyish brand loyalty. Sony, of course, know this, so what do they care if a few 'disloyal subjects' jump ship.

It'll be interesting what happens for the console after this, that's when the tide may turn possibly.

I wonder how many people will feel the same as me? Probably not enough to make any difference to them but if enough people do the same and it has a knock on effect on non-gaming business, they may think twice about short-changing as large a market as Europe in future. As with you, backward compatibility isn't an option for me as I have a PS2 and wouldn't have been selling it anyway (I may now, make a ritual bonfire with it though ), it's the principle here too. Hopefully plenty of people feel the same. Some big corporations could do with a kick up the **** imo
Personally I'm not too interested in the PS3 yet, the launch games look unexciting, but I'll probably end up with one at some point when FF13 comes out. The only franchise Sony has left that I want to play. At the moment I've only got a PS1 but probably get a PS2 when they're even cheaper at the end of the year, just for FF12 if it's any good.

I hardly use my PS2 any more, If you would get better use of it, we could maybe come to some agreement before I set fire to it Stan

Sony have made mistake after mistake with the PS3, and I personally think they could well get a hiding here. The Xbox 360 is well established with some incredible games, while the Wii fills a niche market the PS3 would never be able to tap into. The PS3 will have a serious fight on it's hands if it's going to gain any dominance.
I did see an article on Yahoo the other day that in the past month, the PS3 was actually 3rd highest selling console in the US currently, behind the Wii (1st)) and 360 (2nd). For Sony's brand new baby to be behind the 360 in the US speaks volumes for how the gaming public is reacting to it.

I think the fact that you STILL can't find a Wii in the the US, but there's PS3's left on shelves, even with their piss poor supplies of them says a hell of a lot.
Penny Arcade had someting good on it too - Linky I haven't touched a sony console since the PS1 - the controller is terrible and causes me massive amounts of pain in my hands. XBox large controller is perfect for me. Plus, people complained about the size and weight of the Xbox - the PS3 is larger and heavier... Where's the complaints? Simon/~Flibster
