Default Monitory stuff

For destroying a garage Mics mother gave us some money.

Mic this looking at getting this.

He is basically after opinions or views on it or suggestions of other monitors of a similar price/spec.

Thank you.

I don't know terribly much about monitors but everyone who I know with one has been pleased, I think I might even have used one and it was good but it was quite a while ago so I don't know the model number.

Dunno about that model but I'm very happy with my Dell 2405FPW.

There were several dodgy batches of those doing the rounds. All 20 of the ones we bought in Sweden and most of the ones in one of the other offices (can't remember which) were knackered in some way or another - dead pixels, scratched panels and so on.

We sent the whole lot back.

That said, the ones that weren't buggered (so that's about 5% of the ones we bought) were fine.

As monitors go, Dell do a (generally) great job. You get more monitor for your money. But personally, i wouldn't buy it new, just camp out on the MM on le other place, i saw a 24" Dell go for about £300-350? recently, if i could afford it i would buy without a second thought!

The 24" monitors are great, I've got 2 of the 2405 and 1 of the 2407 here at home.

The earlier 20" widescreens, the 2005 had issues with dodgy backlights so I'd be warey of buying one of them second hand but the 24" screens seem pretty reliable.

//Edit: I'm not saying buy 24" i just realised i may have looked like that, what i meant was look at the money you can save!

Thanks Alex.

I was thinking about getting another one of these in the near future. If they're selling for that sort of price in the MM, I'll keep my eye on there when I'm ready to buy.

Having read a few reviews about the E207WFP, the consensus from reviewers is that; although it's a decent enough monitor for everyday use, it lacks a bit for gaming, graphics intensive stuff or video playback.
Depends what you want to do with it really.

No problem, when i get a bit of money that i don't have other (generally more important uses for, like going out) i'm buying one. I've go my lovely new (awesome) laptop plugged into my aging sony TFT (its growing blotches now on light colours! hmmm...) now i need a nice dell monitor to match, and be better than my sony.

I live in the MM Some excellent deals to be had, i missed out on an almost replica version of my laptop on there for ~£150 less than i got it on ebay, and i saved ~£600+ by buying it on ebay (new) instead of from dell direct, it's unbelievable what people buy and then sell 3 months later! I could never do that, but im not complaining buying it at half the price!

You're not kidding. I bought my M1710 from a guy on the MM for £1300 - £700 less than Dell were selling the same machine for at the time and he'd only bought it, brand new, 6 weeks before
