Just watched this, Michael Moore's new film about the American healthcare system. Obviously its less poignant to us in the UK than F911 or maybe even Bowling for Columbine but its certainly an eye opener!
Well worth a watch, if things are half as bad in the US system as it makes out then I really feel for them over there. I'd also say if you are going out there for a holiday for God sake make sure you have medical insurance from a UK company! MB |

The problem with Michael Moore is he's very bias, very clever and excellent at editing stuff. He very rarely states both sides of the coin, so you could never take anything at face value.
Of course, in saying that, not everything he says is a lie either. Personally I prefer Morgan Spurlock (from Super-Size Me fame) in his series, 30 days, he's much more open about things than Mr. Moore. |

I agree. I found both series of 30 Days that I've seen absolutely fascinating tbh.

There is a definite truth behind what Moore says, that if you can't pay for your healthcare in the US then you won't get it, he uses impact to make his point and edits accordingly but its difficult to refute that what he says about the US system is made up to fit his own agenda.
Moore is no saint and spins a story to make a watch able and provocative movie. If you write this effort off 'because it's Moore' then write off the propaganda you hear from the right too, which is harder to do because it comes out of the mouths of the US president MB |

Anyway, yes Michael Moore is a man with his own agenda (well, who isn't), and after all the F911 crap he's not very high on my 'must watch' list (I have a pet hate - and it's conspiracy theorists - sorry if that offends anyone here, but they do my nut in).[/quote]

Same here, I take his stuff with a pinch of salt but I'd say I do that with most things anyway, just find them enjoyable and interesting reads.

I have SWM, but I have a freak copy. I might have the only copy of its kind in the world. You get 2/3rds through it and it's a full repeat of the first 1/3 again. So I never got to finish it .
