My Fingers Hurt

So, anyway I work in a musical office, it is meant to be a IT office but it has more guitars, amps and leads than computer most of the time and from time to time I pick something up and start playing with it. One day I picked up a bass guitar and I liked it... mentioned that to my boss.

Few weeks later he said he had a spare he could lend me, if I could find an amp, asked around, and sure enough there was one around that I could borrow, putting this all together this is what I have ended up with:



So, anyone got any tips, websites, recommended books, advise or suggestions? Currently going and running my fingers under cold water seems a good idea! I am also on the look out for a strap and a carry case if anyone comes across a good deal.

I've always fancied the idea of playing bass, seems easier than rhythm just because there are less strings!
