Default Advice on some speakers

I'm setting up a mediacentre system for my brother and most of the stuffs is sorted apart from the speakers.

He's got a V-Box so we thought it'd be good to get some speakers which can run both the sound from that and the sound from the mediacentre.

Utilising the digital output on both seems to be the best idea and should hopefully give great sound (the speakers on his TV are a bit naff).

He's been looking around and has found this which looks pretty good and having checked the technical specs (which I can't find anymore ) then it has dual digital audio input so seems perfect for the job.

The entire system (5.1 speakers and amp) is about £200.

What do you guys reckon? Is there something better out there for a comparative amount, or is there something that would do a better job?

Thanks.

Does it have to be 5.1?

I really don't keep tabs on this kind of stuff Dym, thats not a slur by any means, it just doesn't fullfil what I need but it sounds ideal for your needs and budget

I like the way it is actuall a proper amp which means you could upgrade either part of the system at any time.

As sacrilege as it may sound to the audiophiles I'm considering something similar Dym:

Though the only reason I'm looking at that over anything else in particular is because it'll work with my TV nicely. Nobody tell DRZ about the wireless speakers though, I think he'll hit me

I can understand where you're coming from Daz. I'm fed up with wires and wish the lot could be banished. Sometime I need to get behind my TV and re-cable (again) but actually getting there is the problem (TV weighs 50kg).

I'd have done the wiring before the floor was put down if we knew exactly what was gonna happen with the room, but as it turned out we now plan to get a new sofa after christmas and there was no point wiring cables around to potentially the wrong place so it got left.

Yamaha are one of the top brands to have and deliver some excellent sounds.
