Wolfdale
Well I got my new E8400 Wolfdale CPU yesterday and I have to say I'm impressed.
Only cost a mere £129 but is now running at 4Ghz rock solid. The heat output is very manageable and wasn't increasing much at all as I raised the clock speed. A bit of a voltage bump was required but, as these things are 1.1125v stock to start with only a modest 1.28v was required, still well below the stock voltage of a 65nm Conroe. All in all, very happy with this thing - superb bang for your buck. If you motherboard supports them I'd heartily recommend the upgrade.

My board doesn't (not that I'm planning on changing anything anyway)

Wouldn't surprise me, if you get lucky with a good sample. They do seem to be good by all accounts I've seen.
I was going to get one for my main PC but with the laptop purchase that's now way down the priority list (providing that PC doesn't bite the dust given it's age - touch wood). |

That's on air with a Thermalright 120 Extreme.
They're pretty much all hitting 4Ghz but most seem to need getting on for 1.4vcore to do it - mine is happy with far less voltage which is great.

I've got an E8500 on pre-order to replace my existing E6600. Really looking forward to getting it.
