Default Anyone here tried using MediaMonkey?

If not, do so! It a very comprehensive media dukebox. I say dukebox as i use a totally trimmed down version of foobar to play files opened within explorer. But if i want to take control properly of what music i have on in the background (and sync to my iPod) i was using iTunes. But since the last time i used MediaMonkey v2.5, v3 has come out and its fantastic, and the scripts i've found are awesome.
I'm now totally integrated with last.fm.
I scrobble to it and AutoDJ (like party shuffle) from last.fm related music, so it goes with my flow rather than totally random.
I autorate my songs depending on how often i skip/play etc...
It randomly selects my top music plus other interesting stuff for my ipod the next time it syncs.
It autosyncs then ejects my iPod so no hassle can grab and go in a rush.
On top of a million and one other things!
There are a few UI issues i'm "dealing with" one major for me is the "browser" is pretty crap tbh, but heres to hoping they fix that as it goes? Its much quicker and more lightweight than iTunes too Anyways more than happy i've barely scratched the surface, try it for free, and go Gold for skins and few other things (i'm Gold and it's probably not worth it really...).

I tag all my stuff separately i don't like itunes messing round with my tags/filenames at all, and itunes wasn't very good at "monitoring folders" (it didn't do it at all) so thats another problem sorted. I probably won't trust MM enough to let it take over tagging. I know what i do right now with MusicBrainz Picard is absolutely perfect 99.99% of the time and i get perfect album art all in one click of "analyze". If they can integrate real MusicBrainz tagging into MM it would be the most powerful dukebox software i've used.

I'm still smiling everytime i really cool song comes on next i hadn't thought about, but fits oh so well! It's a pretty frigging clever way to make autoDJ work!

Picard QT rocks... I did all my music with it but it doesn't seem to work with my ipod... Coverflow it all over the place... if only apple made it sort properly by album and not artist - stupid mac users....

I used it last summer for tagging my newly re-ripped MP3 collection. Didn't realise it was also a media player until I installed it.

Coverflow will be everywhere maybe because of compilation albums? They usually cause trouble. Do you have any? Is group compilations checked on te iPod? Have you tagged the compilations properly with iTunes? There is no real standard for Compilation albums except "Album Artist" (which iTunes doesn't use properly).

Aye, its all my MOS (etc) albums that cock it up.

Where's the option to 'group compilations'?

There isn't one as far as i can see, but media monkey has an automatic "varis artists" artist, for when a group of songs have the same album, but different artists per track, (and maybe the same album artists i'm unsure of that). So my MOS albums carried over from iTunes eneded up in here aliright. Although by default MM doesn't save them to a compilations folder, i'm still working on a something that works for both . But i have got any fresh compilation albums to play with just yet , so its Work in progress!
