Help! HSF
Trying to fit a HSF to Mum's new motherboard, but I can't work out what the plasic lever is for. I didn't have time to order one from Ebay, so I found a local computer shop who had some. It's definitely the right sort of HSF. It's got good contact with the chip.... I just don't know what the lever is for and don't want to bugger up the chip.
It won't turn either way once fitted without feeling like it's going to snap. Do I need to worry about it? The HSF seems fairly well secured, but I can move it slightly clockwise/anticlockwise. Help!!!

The lever moves clockwise or anticlockwise. When I do that, the metal just moves with it but it doesn't move the HSF at all because there's a few mm gap between the metal and the HS. So yeah the metal moves, but it's just bending side to side really.

IIRC those levers take a hell of a lot of force to push them down - I seem to remember thinking I was going to break something the first time I did one.
It's been a while since I last messed with an AMD so it may be wise to wait until someone with more recent experience happens along.

It's been on all day, it just wasn't working. I tried calling you and it was completely silent. Switched it off/on and now it's fine. Your text just came too through... and now I'm too late because you're not answering. Bloody phone!!!!! (sorry!!! )
