How do you guys get Parcels?

I am currently have been waiting for a parcel for about 2 weeks now. First it delivered when i was at work, then arranged for Saturday Delivery which never came. Apparently I should have got a pone call to confirm it but i never got that call. At last resort I asked them to delivery it to my local post office so i can pick it up on Saturday. Went up there today to find that the parcel is still in the depot.

Called them up and asked what's going on, and they clearly don't know as the system shows that "delivery instructions received", the instruction being delivered to my post office.

I was calm all the way through but really wanted to have a go at someone, but it's not the fault of the person i was speaking to and he has guaranteed that it will be delivered to my post office this time round.

So how do you guys get parcels delivered when you work all the time? Do you take a day off just for it?

You Need a Neighbour Like Me & You need to give your mobile number to whoever the Courier is

Couriers Love having the customers moby number & will get those drops out the way first in the knowledge that they will get the drop done quickly. Every single time I get a bell on the Moby, Starts with the normal crap but I take over with some friendly banter & local instructions on how to find my house with a Tea waiting if you want one comment. They Never stop for a tea but appreciate Local directions, tips on any dodgey parking spots & Direct comms by moby with whoever is signing for the parcel.

So you know that bloke/neighbour you slate off for not working & standing about in the street chatting to everyone. Get to know him

With Royal Mail, they return it to the depot (5 mins walk from my house). They open at 8am so I drop in before work the next day and grab it then. With most other couriers they try one attempt, leave a card and come back the next day. If you sign the card with instructions on where to leave the parcel on their return they will do so without a signature in person. Helps that I live in a good area for that though! If it's something important I ask my retired neighbour if I can address it to him.

Wait for them to card you (if royal mail) then call the redelivery service and get them to send it to your local post office. you can then collect right up until 5.30pm most evenings.
when it wasn't delivered I called up the office again and demanded that they take it down there that afternoon - and they did

brought it down with the last collection.

its a nightmare really. Fortunately my new employer is OK about having stuff delivered to work. I pushed a bit the other day by having 8 tyres delivered though

The advantage for us is that Phil has Friday afternoons off - he spent yesterday racing round Norwich getting a number of parcels that had been attempted delivered in the week!

Unfortunately I put them straight in the car (well only 6 fit - 2 went in my workmates car!!!)

The depot for parcel force is not the same for Royal Mail for me, and it's much further away, without a car it is difficult to get to as it is on a industrial estate. Moreover, it is only open office hours, me being working during office hours means I am at work when they are, plus they don't even have a manned counter, so even if i turn up, the only way I could pick it up is by chance i run into one of the couriers drivers just coming back or leaving so i can catch him.

The thing is i don't open the post so getting non-work related items delivered at work will get opened thus its not very professional, especially if one of the partners sees I go and pick up a bunch of DVDs or whatever at the post room.

Now that dad is off sick (for nearly 8 months now) there is usually someone in when the post comes. If not then i nip down to the depot just down the road.
