*blank*
As per title, this is my brain at the moment.
This is not the good news considering I have to be creative in my work. It might be because I have just sent off a load of samples to some uber companies and the whole worry of perfecting it has been alleviated... ... but... I don't know what to do! I am literally really struggling and have been since this morning. I figured if I got out I would feel a bit more with it sooo went to the gym, took my dog out and then came back here and... *blank*... still! Nothing at all is coming to me. Nothing. *blank* Bah. Don't you hate days like this? Anyone have any ideas of how I could inspire myself? [edit] maybe that nose hair avec le knot was my brain afterall. |

Everyone has off days pheebs, was it seriously possible to keep being creative constantly? Surely thats not sustainable...
//Edit: Essentially what i meant was, stop worrying |

Plus, I feel guilty if all I have managed to do in a day is send of some packages and draw a couple of pants sketches/ideas... when more poor Picky has been working all day at school! Very tempted to go find some similar style books in a library and have a read and quiffle over them to see what kinda things they've done/what sells. |

I'd probably suggest getting up, out and having a wander round doing something unrelated! I do that at work when I've been stuck in for ages and seem to be slowing down, a bit of fresh air and people-watching works a treat - luckily have nice bosses that don't mind me wandering out of the office at whatever time, lol
Or even just take a day off! That's the benefit you creative types have

Yup I get them often too. I'm kinda lucky in a way because I just have to find something to be inspired by and photograph it. But with your work you have to find something to be inspired by and then create something from that. Hmm I guess that could apply to me too as I have to create a good photo but I'd guess you can't go for a walk, see a nice building or forrest and then create a comedic card from it.
I haven't found a way to fix it really. Change of music, scenery, workload etc. Do something else. Get the washing done Boring but some days you're just not creative so you have to get the other crap done and wait for the light to turn back on.

I cleaned the kitchen! And whilst doing so refreshed my brain with Mandarin speaking! Woo!
Still blank though! (well not entirely... I have started a drawing I really like... but it's not relevant to anything I need to do ) I am going to venture to the library tomorrow and do some reeeeesearch me thinks! Rich - you are MASSIVELY lucky you have uber nice bosses! One of my last employments I was taken aside by mine and interrogated (no exaggeration in wording) over why I had been out of the office on three occasions for up to five minutes within the past 6 hours!! I bluntly explained it was that time of month and the first day of it which meant frequent toilet visits. He said "it doesn't take 5minutes to do lady stuff does it? What were you really doing?" I was shocked! I shouldn't have even been in that day I was suffering so badly with cramps! What a moose pie. So yeh, you're UBER lucky SCM - boooooo to blankness! We should throw a big paint bucket at it to make it less blank. Hoping you come out of your blank lostness soon too! Petemc - I *love* your work. I think wandering about is what I need to do more with a sketch pad as I just suddenly think stupid things when out and about but never have anything to note down with/draw! Better day tomorrow! Hoorah! |

Stop worrying you moose! Its like an erection, the more you think the harder it gets...
*Ahem* But walking round with a notepad outside is probably a good idea too, around somewhere tranquil, like i'd go trawling through my fields in Liverpool, or Roslyn forest in Edinburgh |

Yeah go anywhere with a sketch book. Park, beach, shopping center, coffee shop etc. Do you get the stupid problem of thinking so clearly just as you're about 60 seconds from falling asleep? I can spend an entire day dicking around online getting nothing done, being totally uninspired and then just as I go to bed everything falls into place. God I hate that Stupid brain. I just want to sleep at that point. I don't want to be uber-creative. Where am I supposed to get a sunset and model at 3am?

Edit: Hehehehehehhee! I just realised that I meant "nonsense" instead of "non-making-sense". Silly me. Pickys home - apparently he had an unproductive day. I feel better Edit - AGAIN!: I didn't mean that cruelly that I felt better! It's sad he had a poopy day too... I guess I just feel less guilty Desmo just gave me a deadline to work to as well and I came up with something pretty cool. I need deadlines and pressure I think. That's my problem Last edited by Pheebs; 03-06-2008 at 17:30. |
