Default Streaming Media to PS3

Quick question.

Whats the best way to stream media to PS3 from a Vista PC. I was looking at Twonky Vision but am a bit loathe to put off with paying €30.00 or there abouts for it. So is there any freeware applications out there or is it best to pay the €30 ??

I may end up putting Ubuntu on there and look at an alternative method but for now I would just like a quick fix to do get this going.

Any Suggestions

What are you looking to stream?

Only thing I've had it not play is MKV's

Shame in a way as I do love the MKV

Not tried them with any transcoder for the PS3.

Transcode 360 can send video/audio to the xbox but with massive lag between both.

Only thing I can really suggest is mkv2vob - convert your MKV to Vob/MP4 (PS3 plays natively iirc) and there you go. Hi-Def TV Shows and retains your sound. about 1 - 2 mins per file

Only way you'll get it to stream MKV's is as Psymonkee has said, using MKV>VOB and doing it that way.

I'm going to have to get windows onto this mac so I can use it, as I'm stuck watching all my Hi-Def stuff on it rather than on the TV.

I use Twonky here, but that's because it's the server that comes with my NAS, 30 day free trial but if you reboot the server it resets the timer - so as long as I don't have 30 days uptime it's not a problem And I'm never running anything that needs 30 days uptime.
