M-Audio Revo 5.1 and XP MCE...
Hey all I want to add a 2nd soundcard to my HCPC as a bit of an experiment with 2nd zone (Denon AVR-2808).
Current (rather old now!) spec is: P4 2.4ghz with 2g ram, Nvidea geforce 7600, Creative SB X-Fi, XP MCE with SP3, forget the dvd drive and hard drive, but shouldn't be relevent. I want to add my M-Audio Revo 5.1 but it just keeps saying "Device cannot start (Code 10)" which from my googling says is basically a driver issue. M-Audio site just says not compatible with MCE due to 3rd party modifications to the software, but my copy is an OEM one from MS so should be similar backbone to XP? Drivers are the latest from M-Audio site: 5.10.00.5063v2 Anyone got any suggestions? Would a delta 410 work better? Got one of those lying around somewhere too. Cheers peeps |

I have nothing constructive to say regarding your problem but I just wanted to say, the M-Audio Revo 5.1 is the best sound card I've ever used - bar none. I hope you get it working

Me too
When the delta 410 was announced, I managed to blag an early issue from the US, and thought it was fantastic! Then when they announced the more home-friendly revo 5.1 I was hooked Only reason I changed to the x-fi was so I could do dvd-a but now want it back for films and it don't work |

I bought mine because I couldn't get decent drivers for my x-fi when I switched to Vista. I'm glad I did now, it's a much better card IMO.

Have (temporarily, hopefully) given up on the revo. Put the Delta 410 in and that seems to work - has the same functionality really, just without the bass management.
Seems to be working so far... |

Hmm, so far being it'll output pcm through the sp/dif but buggered if I can figure out how to make it output multi-channel.
Might have to have a search at AVS forum as I'm getting a deja vu feeling I gad the same before all those years ago! |
