Default Activision News inc. new CoD game!

Activision have recently released new information which I thought some of you may be interested in, primarily in the form of PGR, Call of Duty and Guitar Hero news.

This is taken straight from xbox360achievements:

Quote:
  • A new Tony Hawk which you will "not be playing with a controller in your hands."
  • Tentatively titled "Guitar Hero 5" next year. This title will feature loads of in-game advertising. The first screenshot showed a Burger King ad to the right of the fretboard during gameplay.
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 announced.
  • New Racing IP from the team that made PGR. "Mario Kart meets Forza."
  • James Bond "racing-oriented" game.
Sadly it seems like Guitar Hero 5 will annoy many with all its advertising, but I'm hoping they can put together a good track-list, they need to look into other genre's though as many of the songs in both the latest Guitar Hero's and both Rock Bands are poor.

New Call of Duty MW isn't a surprise but it's definitely nice to see it official. There were many reported rumours that it was going to be space related (which I would have been interested in), but Modern Warfare is one of the finest full packages for SP and MP ever created and I think Infinity Ward are infallible these days .

I also knew about the James Bond racing game as my friend was working on it before he left Bizarre, it was originally dubbed 'Project Nightwing', but whether or not it will finally be called that is anyones guess.

Tony Hawks doesn't intrigue me really, primarily as it seems from the description to be Wii related, possibly using the Wii Fit board. The series was totally outclassed by Skate anyway and with Skate 2 arriving next year they will have to work wonders.

I was hoping for news of another GUN game having enjoyed the first one so much recently - and a western game on the new engines could be stunning.

New Racing IP from the team that made PGR. "Mario Kart meets Forza."

Sounds dreadful....

But I love the PGR series so I'll give them the benefit.

Mario Kart meets Forza... sounds like Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts! To be honest, I just want another Diddy Kong Racing game, so something just like that with different vehicles (like in DKR) would get me excited!

I have to disagree with you on tracklists on RB/RB2 tbh.

Can't say I'm surprised at that news though although I seem to recall Activision making a little blunder recently....

Oh... I'm so surprised.
You also thought Guitar Hero 2 had a solid track listing. If half the MP3's on your CD we listened to were on Rock Band it would be much better.

I would much rather play a lot of the pop songs out there than the ones they choose for these games for sure. I bet they'd be more enjoyable too.
As you said, they pick rubbish tracks from great acts.

For Muse they could have: Bliss, Plug-In Baby, Stockhold Syndrome, Muscle Museum, Citizen Erased, New Born and Dead Star.
For Oasis they could have: Wonderwall, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Champagne Supernova, Slide Away, Live Forever and Don't Look Back in Anger.
For Blur they could have: Parklife, Song 2, Country House, Girls & Boys and Charmless Man.
For Offspring they could have: TDammit, I changed again, Million Miles Away, Americana, Amazed, Self Esteem, I choose, Bad Habit, Dirty Magic, Genocide, Mota, Lightning Rod, Staring at the Sun, Come out Swinging, Conspiracy of One, Special Delivery, Huck It and Beheaded.
For The Hives they could have: Walk Idiot Walk, Supply and Demand, Tick Tick Boom, B is for Brutus, Love in Plaster and Die Alright!

I could go on and on. They continually pick songs from the good artists that are more often than not, not their best songs. I was amazed to see Gone Away as DLC though.

I'd like to see a GH set list made up of some decent and recent guitar bands. Not all of us want to play hardcore metal tracks all the time.

I'll make this the last post on this topic in this thread but there really isn't much 'hardcore metal songs' as you put it....

I'd post the tracklists and break it down but that would be going way OT

Also decent, recent guitar bands simply do not exist! What do you have in mind?

Maybe not hardcore if you're in to metal, but if you're not, some of the tracks are a bit much.

I'm not "into" my music like some people are so naming bands is probably not the best thing for me to do as I don't know who most of them are these days
I'd just like to see a bit more modern and popular music on there. Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene (OK, not so modern), Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, etc. I know some of these have some songs in GH but it's not the bulk of them.

Oasis, Kasabian are deffo in

OCS would be cool as I grew up listening to that.

I suspect though a lot of songs get incorrectly labelled by people who aren't into their music. Can be a shame in a way as you can over look a lot of good bands like that - I know I have

Also dammit! Said I wouldn't post about this again in this thread

The metal stuff in the games gets on my tits, more often that not they are the hardest songs to crack but because I hate that music it becomes a chore.

That said they couldn't have picked worse guitar and drum tracks for oasis. The same for Blur, beetlebum wtf.

I prefer to play stuff I can sing along to myself while I play.

Another problem is it's very american biased.

The GH5 doesn't interest me in the slightest, I've WT this year and it's so poor I can't even be bothered to finish career with about 20 songs to go. I've now invested too much money in RB to even consider GH5.

I still cannot believe both games are missing out on a huge market, pop. If harmonix got their fingers out they could whack out a disc called pop band and get chart stuff added every week and clean the **** up.
