Hallelujah
Can someone please back me up in saying that Alexandra Berk's version is one of the worst versions ever? It's meant to be a quiet song, not belted out by a choir.

It has been many years since I paid attention to the charts. Based on your post I shall continue to do so.

Irritating girl is no1, despite not having the hard copy out yet I'm just thankfully that she'll have probably all but dissapeared by this time next year.

I've always ignored x factor, people i know and love have displayed a spectrum of emotions around me throughout its duration whether it be intense hatred or utter obsession.
That is, until now, they have infuriated me. They've taken what, to me, is one of the most emotional and iconic songs in history and ruined it. Now if this was a random artist or whatever i wouldn't mind so much, but this is the xfactor crew, a large group of people that have meticulously planned every choice they've made to maximize profits from this single, it's not even about the music, it's about the money. They've cheapened one of the things i enjoy most in life, I detest them. (oh the melodrama)

One of the best versions of this I've heard was Jason Castro's on American Idol last year. |

Indeed, the number of people i've met that think that Jeff Buckley did it originally is rather surprising. His version is certainly one of the best, but at least give Cohen credit for writing it! Another one of my favorite versions is actually the one done by John Cale, his voice is just perfect for it.
I actually met someone who thought the chick that sang the x-factor version wrote it... i nearly chewed my own tongue off I need to get anger management classes.
