Default Need a new printer with cheap cartridges

My printer has just died on me. Reckons that one of its components has reached the end of its service life and now it won't bloody print I've tried re-setting the ink pad counter, but it's still not playing. This is ridiculous. I've had NO warning whatsoever. Good thing I wasn't printing something important

Anyway, I've been looking around for a new printer, but none of the cheap ones seem to have compatible cartridges and I am not paying £15 each time I need a new one.

Any ideas on what I could get? I don't mind getting an old model. Top budget is £40, but I'd prefer around £25.

Ta

What kinda printer do you want Kate?

EDIT: Kitten's mum has an Epson printer and I buy her cartridges for her from eBay and they are around £14 for 3 sets of 4 cartridges.

Just an ink jet. Doesn't have to be photo quality. I prefer Canon or Epson in terms of brand.

Looking at an ip3500 at the moment. Can get colour cartridges for £2 off 7dayshop and sets of black+all colours for £14 from prink.

Right, I can get an ip3500 for £32 and cartridges for a tenner a set. That sounds reasonable to me!

ouch they aren't cheap Cheapest I've found is around £13 a piece.

Seems you can refill them, searching for PG-40 gives better prices though.

Yay!

Think I'm going to get this one. It seems to get reasonable reviews.

I buy mine off that guy all the time, offers repeat buyer offers and if you add him as a fav seller you get emailed discounts.

I Have an I560 that so far is still going strong. Next time though I want a printer thats only black cartridge if you can buy them. The only time I ever print in colour is when the mrs doesn't select black and white only.

You appear to have overlooked the obvious:

Doesn't say what capacity the toner is in those, but I bought my Brother HL1250 in 2001, and up to the middle of last year it was still on its original toner - try that with an inkjet.
